What is UrbanBound?
Employees should be granted the chance to move for work instead of having to adjust their jobs to fit the relocation process. By adopting innovative strategies, administrative tasks and relocation costs can be reduced by as much as 66%, all while improving the overall experience. The tasks associated with moving and hiring can often seem more straightforward than they actually are, as they involve careful organization and oversight of numerous details to ensure a successful outcome, all while meeting the requirements of employees or candidates alongside time, budget, and other competing factors. Instead of being an opportunity to impress your workforce, the process can quickly devolve into a logistical headache for everyone involved. Fortunately, a solution exists. UrbanBound provides a state-of-the-art software platform aimed at making employee relocations easier, guiding them through the moving journey and ensuring a remarkable experience that can considerably cut your program costs by up to 66%. In addition, with UrbanBound’s intuitive intern management software, you can seamlessly manage payments, offer different housing options, and track travel expenses for your intern group, reducing the administrative burden and enabling you to concentrate on what truly matters. These technological improvements not only facilitate the relocation process but also greatly boost employee satisfaction. UrbanBound: A Relocation Service That Offers Little to No Value
Updated: Mar 17 2025SummaryIn conclusion, UrbanBound added nothing of value to my relocation experience. Their website is clunky and restrictive, their moving partners are overpriced, and their consultants are unhelpful. I strongly advise against relying on UrbanBound for relocation assistance. I will be encouraging my company to reconsider their partnership, as it seems like a significant waste of resources. They added stress to an already stressful process.
PositiveMy experience with UrbanBound has been overwhelmingly negative. I honestly question the value of my employer's partnership with them, as they provided virtually no assistance during my relocation. I ended up handling everything internally, making UrbanBound feel like an unnecessary and frustrating middleman.
NegativeFirstly, their website is a complete disaster. Uploading moving expenses is a needlessly complicated process. The categorization is clunky, and the system's rigidity is infuriating. If you're approaching your relocation allowance limit, be prepared for the system to reject any further receipts, even if you have funds remaining. Instead of a seamless experience, you're forced to contact customer support and plead your case. The entire process feels designed to be as inefficient as possible.

Secondly, the moving partners they recommended provided outrageously expensive quotes. I received two quotes, one for $7,000 and the other for $11,000. The similarity in the offers made me suspicious. I was able to secure significantly lower quotes from other moving companies on my own. UrbanBound's "partnership" seems to translate to inflated prices for the end-user.
Finally, the consultants I interacted with were unhelpful, unenthusiastic, and difficult to work with. Instead of providing solutions, they consistently referred me elsewhere. For even the simplest requests, their response was invariably, "Contact your employer about that." It felt like they were actively avoiding providing any real support.
