What is Waterfox?
Exploring the internet can be accomplished effortlessly by prioritizing both usability and privacy. Our aim is to gather only the vital information required for peak performance. Your online actions and browsing patterns are entirely your own; we completely honor that separation. Waterfox integrates seamlessly with the Chrome Web Store, Opera Web Store, and Firefox Store, boasting the broadest extension compatibility compared to other browsers. Each individual user has distinct browsing preferences that we strive to accommodate. As one of the first 64-bit browsers, Waterfox quickly attracted a loyal following. Originally, the main objective of Waterfox was to boost speed; over time, it has transformed into a browser that emphasizes ethical practices and user-focused design. It strives to maintain a balanced approach between privacy and usability, understanding that an overemphasis on privacy can hinder web functionality, while a lack of attention to it may result in privacy violations. With Waterfox, users can have confidence that their online behavior stays private and is not disclosed to third parties. This unwavering dedication to user privacy is central to the philosophy behind the browser. Additionally, Waterfox continually seeks to adapt and improve, ensuring that it meets the evolving needs of its users in a digital landscape that is constantly changing.

Terrible waste of time
Date: Mar 09 2025SummaryVery poor and totally useless if it can't work as a alt browser that is supposed to replace a modern browser, pitiful.
PositiveIt isn't Firefox, made by people that are dreamers, in short a miracle they are still in a job really.
Negativeit can't display pictures, needs major work to fix its brittle engine, it is slow, over promises and under delivers, suffers that same issues as its parent, a complicated hidden settings method and threadbare features, it's poorly made with careless design and no real quality.

GOODBYE WATERFOX
Date: Nov 06 2024SummaryExcellent until it stopped win 7 support!
From that moment onwards I deleted it, because it said there would be no updates.PositiveEverything was very good, because I was also familiar with Firefox, I only needed a reserve browser, which was more then suitable. All extensions and add-ons working with fire-, were also compatible with the water-... most of all the download helper, and the several different add-blockers.
NegativeNO cons, except that it stopped supporting Windows 7. I know it by heart, I am 60 and DO NOT intend learning new windows, adapting applications, looking for alternatives, add-ons patches etc etc. ONLY because it would not support win 7 anymore I deleted it completely, yesterday. I found several equally good alternatives supporting win 7, full force, similar as w-fox used to.

Waterfox Performance
Date: Dec 26 2021SummaryI have been using Waterfox for a couple of months now and Waterfox is definitely ahead of Firefox in performance, leaving me very impressed!
PositiveI have been using Waterfox for a couple of months now and Waterfox is definitely ahead of Firefox in performance. I can honestly say i haven't had any hiccups with Waterfox whatsoever. Id confidently say Waterfox is almost twice as fast as Firefox. I don't know what the standards are in security for Waterfox though.
NegativeWaterfox default browser is Bing. That is my only complaint.
