The more you use a terminal program, the more you need ZOC!
Updated: Jun 07 2024SummarySuperb. I can get things done in large networks with hundreds of machines faster with ZOC.
Its features like macros, scripts, logging to disk with date and time stamps make it easy to document procedures, show the actual messages from the devices, and the like.PositiveFor users who are connected to many different machines per day, ZOC gets you online FAST with its Host Directory where usernames, passwords, SSH keys, and logging to disk will save you incredible amounts of time. ZOC can record keystrokes and commands and record a script a script on-the-fly, without having to log out and log back in again to run it. The recorded script can immediately be played back for repetitive actions on servers, routers, etc. or can be edited and enhanced later as needed. Multi function F1 - F12 hotkeys can be mapped to a simple command or can launch your own sophisticated ZOC scripts on one Tab, or multiple Tabs if multiple machines simultaneously need the same task performed. ZOC's scripting language is POWERFUL yet easy to learn. The more you use a terminal program, the more you need ZOC!
NegativeZOC is so good I can not think of any negative aspects. it's GREAT.

TN3270 Emulator for MacOs and Windows
Date: Jun 05 2024SummaryThe majority of my day is spent developing software for the IBM mainframe. The most important app that I use is a TN3270 emulator. I have used a MacBook laptop for 15 years. I typically run a Windows VM on the Mac just so I could run the TN3270 emulator of my choice. ZOC has made my life easier!
PositiveBeing able to run the same TN3270 emulator on MacOS and Windows is a huge plus! If you have used other emulators in the past, conversion to ZOC is quite simple. ZOC offers a large number of options that allow you to configure and customize the software to meet your needs.
EmTec provides incredible and responsive software support. Being a new user of ZOC, I had questions, feedback and a few enhancement requests. The support team has been very easy to work with.NegativeMy con for this product is simply that I did not know that it existed. Since I work on MacOs and Windows environments, using the same TN3270 emulator would have been great!

The one program I use daily
Updated: Mar 05 2025SummaryI am using ZOC now over 10 years and I am very happy with the product.
Special mention for the support, this is outstanding, quick and to the point.PositiveAutomatic logging, which helped me, when a config got lost.
Customization, although the out-of-the-box settings work perfectly.
The configuration file is shared between my home PC and laptop, so I have always the latest additions and changes on both computers.NegativeSometimes the customization is a little tricky to do, but in general the default is mostly enough.

Best Commercial Terminal Package out there
Date: Jan 31 2024SummaryI began using ZOC7 in 2018 while working as an Eng for a Power & Telephone company. I found it much more user friendly and stable than other top name brands in the Terminal emulator arena and a breath of fresh air to the windows environment for both serial and ssh terminal operations. I continue to use it (ZOC8) in my retirement to administer a modest number of networks and systems both local and remote. I have only had a single crash, which the program provided a simple means of reporting, which produced human support responses in my inbox the next morning. I could easily give five stars with the addition of FIDO2 key/token support!
PositiveMeaningful tab labels, useful and easy to remember hot keys, session logging, copy and paste between terminals and other sources, well considered default profile options and easy one off profile modifications. Well laid out Host Directory entry options that streamline every connection. Another nice feature I use is the portable install to a USB drive, makes the product configured as I like and all host available wherever I need to travel, without the need of bringing my own hardware.
NegativeI agree with other reviews that the addition of FIDO2 (ed25519-sk) support would be a great addition to this already nicely featured package.

Great Serial Console
Date: Jan 28 2024SummaryWe use ZOC in a lab to access tech equipment via serial port mostly. Overall we are very happy with the product bc. it saves us from having to write programs in python to automate stuff.
PositiveThe debug/analyzer functions are unique and very helpful to capture and log binary sensor output. Logging functions and REXX scripting works great.
NegativeWish there was a syntax aware REXX editor/debugger.
