What is kodwai?

kodwai helps developers and hiring teams see how someone actually works with an AI coding agent. Instead of banning agents or only checking whether tests pass, each challenge is a realistic, ticket-sized task solved on the developer's own machine with Claude Code, Cursor or Codex. After submission, kodwai scores the session from 0 to 100 on Direction, Outcome and Lift, and every signal is tied to evidence from the transcript, commits and test runs. For developers it is free to practice, with a public profile and leaderboard: 3 scored submissions are included, then you bring your own Anthropic key. For companies, the hiring track runs custom interview projects sent with a one-link email invite, with live observation of prompts, commits, test runs and API cost, AI scoring against the team's own per-role rubric, manual team scores and side-by-side candidate comparison. Team pricing is available on request.

Coding Challenge Platform

Kodwai is an innovative platform designed for interactive coding challenges that promote self-guided learning. Each challenge presents practical, bite-sized tasks—ranging from building a REST API for a bookshelf to creating a simplified Raft log. These tasks are crafted with hidden complexities that a straightforward prompt might overlook. Participants utilize their own AI coding assistant to tackle these challenges, and their performance is measured based on how effectively they guided the AI, rather than merely on test success. Scores are based on three criteria: Direction, Outcome, and Lift, each rated from 0 to 100, complete with supporting evidence for every metric. The platform features a public leaderboard, and users can track their Direction rating which updates with each challenge attempt, along with the opportunity to compete in a weekly league.
