What is Cortex Agentic Endpoint Security?

Palo Alto Networks Cortex Agentic Endpoint Security (AES) is an AI-native endpoint security platform developed to protect organizations from threats introduced by autonomous AI agents, developer tools, and dynamically executed software. The solution extends traditional endpoint protection by providing visibility into non-binary software components and AI systems operating with access to enterprise devices and resources. Its discovery capabilities identify AI coding agents, local language models, browser extensions, IDE plugins, Model Context Protocol servers, and open-source software packages. The platform detects unauthorized or unmanaged AI applications and maintains an inventory of software components that may create security exposures. Its AI Context Graph analyzes relationships between agents, tools, permissions, software dependencies, and sensitive resources to provide contextual risk assessments. Continuous risk evaluation helps security teams identify vulnerable packages, excessive permissions, malicious extensions, and potential software supply chain threats. Governance capabilities include configurable security policies, automated guardrails, application controls, and removal of insecure software components. Runtime protection monitors agent actions and can intercept unauthorized tool execution, malicious downloads, and potentially destructive operations before they reach the host system. Integration with Prisma AIRS provides additional protection against prompt injection, unsafe AI interactions, malicious URLs, and potential data exfiltration. Cortex AES can operate as a standalone solution, integrate directly with Cortex XDR, or extend protection alongside compatible third-party endpoint detection and response platforms.

What is Bitdefender AI Guardian?

Bitdefender AI Guardian is a specialized security application crafted for macOS users who engage with autonomous AI agents, making it particularly beneficial for developers and tech-savvy professionals. This application establishes a local background service paired with a command-line interface that keeps an eye on agent activities according to user-defined policies. It carefully evaluates prompts, tool calls, MCP servers, installed skills, and file access, enabling users to allow, flag, or block specific actions. Moreover, it offers capabilities to scrutinize skills and MCP servers, protect credential paths from agents, and maintain a secure, encrypted local audit log to record decisions for future reference. Users can also opt to receive discreet alerts through their preferred chat platforms. In its beta stage, AI Guardian supports platforms like Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Hermes Agent and is available for free on macOS, with intentions to extend support to other operating systems down the line. This tool is specifically intended to bolster control over agent actions rather than substitute existing AI models, agent frameworks, or conventional antivirus software, thereby ensuring a holistic approach to security management. Ultimately, Bitdefender AI Guardian aims to empower users with enhanced oversight while fostering a safer environment for AI interactions.
