What is Devolutions Powershell Universal?

Devolutions PowerShell Universal transforms PowerShell scripts into dynamic automation solutions, REST and WebSocket APIs, and interactive web applications, all managed from a centralized administration console. Users can store, organize, secure, execute, and monitor scripts utilizing features such as a browser-based editor, IntelliSense, debugging capabilities, integrated Git support, and a VS Code extension that boosts productivity. The platform allows for the scheduling and execution of jobs based on events through flexible scheduling options or CRON expressions while offering scalable performance across multiple instances. Moreover, it supports the development of internal tools using over 70 UI controls and provides APIs complete with OpenAPI documentation for easy integration. Additional functionalities include tools for managing variables and secrets, in-browser terminal access, role-based access control, and authentication options via local accounts, LDAP, SAML, or OpenID Connect. Both PowerShell 7 and Windows PowerShell are supported, alongside various modules like Azure, Microsoft Graph, Exchange Online, and VMware. The solution can be hosted on various platforms, whether on-premises, on AWS or Azure, in IIS, or even on a Raspberry Pi. Developers have access to a free Developer edition that encompasses the full feature set for local development, while a Server license is required for production use, contributing to over 40,000 installations. This extensive versatility empowers organizations to effectively streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency while also fostering innovation through custom development.

What is Azure Resource Manager?

Azure Resource Manager is the foundational service for deploying and managing resources in Azure, providing a robust management interface that lets users create, modify, and delete resources in their Azure accounts. Once resources are deployed, management functionalities like access control, locks, and tagging can be employed to improve security and organization. Requests originating from any Azure tools, APIs, or SDKs are sent to Resource Manager, which authenticates and authorizes them before dispatching the requests to the relevant Azure service to carry out the required actions. The uniform API that handles all requests ensures that users experience a consistent interface and feature set across different tools. Each feature available in the Azure portal is also accessible through PowerShell, Azure CLI, REST APIs, and client SDKs, providing a streamlined experience for users. Significantly, features that debut through APIs usually become accessible in the portal within around 180 days, ensuring that all access points remain in sync. This synchronization allows users to depend on reliable performance and up-to-date features across all platforms, fostering an integrated environment for resource management. Ultimately, Azure Resource Manager plays a vital role in enhancing user efficiency and ensuring a seamless interaction with Azure services.
