What is Disroot?

Disroot provides a secure email service that can be accessed via both desktop applications and a web interface. The connection between users and the mail server is protected by SSL encryption, enhancing user privacy significantly. Furthermore, any outgoing emails are encrypted using TLS, depending on the compatibility of the recipient's email server, which prevents messages from being sent in an unprotected format. The webmail platform is built on RainLoop, an innovative and intuitive service that offers a range of essential features for users. Personalization options allow users to choose custom background images, and they can also view their conversations in a convenient threaded format. The platform supports multiple languages, making it accessible to a global user base. Users have the ability to create rules for automating email management, such as sorting messages into specific folders or forwarding selected emails. Additionally, the integration of Nextcloud contacts directly into the webmail makes it easier for users to oversee their communications. Disroot places a strong emphasis on providing a rich user experience while implementing comprehensive security measures to protect user data. Ultimately, the focus is not just on security, but also on creating a seamless and enjoyable communication experience for all users.

What is Aster Mail?

Aster Mail is a free, open-source email service that prioritizes user privacy through end-to-end encryption, offering a straightforward experience that avoids complicated technical hurdles. The encryption happens directly on the user's device, guaranteeing that our servers remain uninformed about the contents of messages or any related metadata. By leveraging the widely recognized OpenPGP standard with RSA-4096 keys, Aster allows users to maintain independence from any single provider, as their keys are compatible with GPG, Thunderbird, or any other PGP-enabled client, and can be easily found through WKD and public key servers. For communications between users of Aster, the service utilizes a Signal-inspired X3DH and Double Ratchet protocol, which significantly boosts forward secrecy. Each subscription level includes encrypted email functionalities, the ability to use custom domains, free aliases, protection from trackers, and unrestricted access on both web and desktop interfaces. The entire codebase is released under the AGPL v3 license on GitHub, promoting rigorous audits, and it includes a public warrant canary along with a transparent vulnerability disclosure policy to enhance user trust. The free subscription offers 10 GB of encrypted storage, 5 aliases, and 1 custom domain, while paid plans commence at just $2.99 monthly, with all servers based in Germany to comply with strict data protection laws. Users can confidently communicate, knowing their messages are safeguarded by leading encryption technologies, making Aster Mail an excellent choice for those valuing privacy. Moreover, the user-friendly interface ensures that even those with limited technical knowledge can take full advantage of its robust security features.
