What is MecaWind?

MecaWind is a dedicated software application crafted to calculate wind pressures and loads on the main wind force resisting system (MWFRS) of different structures such as buildings, towers, chimneys, tanks, and solar panels, among others. It complies with the ASCE 7 standard, which serves as the primary reference for design loads in the United States, as established by the American Society of Civil Engineers. This software includes multiple versions of the ASCE 7 standard, along with the Florida Building Code (FBC), providing access to ASCE 7-05, ASCE 7-10, and the updated ASCE 7-16. Each version signifies a unique enhancement to the standard, with ASCE 7-16 being the most recent and incorporating various changes from ASCE 7-10. Although ASCE 7-05 is available within the software, it is not frequently utilized in modern practices across different regions. This extensive toolset not only facilitates engineers in adhering to current building regulations but also enhances their ability to conduct precise wind load evaluations. As a result, MecaWind plays a vital role in improving the safety and reliability of structures against wind-related forces.
