What is MergeMe?

MergeMe seamlessly integrates GitHub pull requests and GitLab merge requests into Slack, offering an efficient notification card that continuously updates for each PR/MR. Unlike the official Slack integrations for GitHub or GitLab that create a new message for every event, MergeMe refreshes a single message as its status changes—from opened to under review to approved and finally merged. During the review process, any comments are shown as replies in a thread under the notification card, which helps keep all feedback neatly organized and easily accessible. Additionally, MergeMe supports various code hosting services, such as GitHub, GitLab, and even self-hosted GitLab instances. Users have the ability to connect multiple git sources within a single Slack workspace, allowing them to assign each repository or project to specific Slack channels. It also maps usernames from GitHub and GitLab to Slack users to ensure effective notifications via @mentions for reviewers, while employing label-based routing to sort bugs, features, and documentation efforts into different channels. The setup is designed to be user-friendly and quick, taking approximately five minutes; users simply need to connect their Slack account, link their git provider through OAuth, a GitHub App, or a webhook URL for self-hosted setups, and configure the desired channel mappings. Importantly, MergeMe operates exclusively on webhook payloads, ensuring that it does not access any private source code. For users on the Free Hobby plan, the service offers one channel mapping and accommodates up to five users, making it a fantastic entry point for teams looking to improve their development processes and collaboration. Furthermore, as teams grow and require more mappings and users, they can easily transition to higher-tier plans to unlock additional features and enhancements.

What is Gitcolony?

Analyze the crafted code, designate a merger, select a group of individuals to assess your progress, collaborate with your peers to find the best solutions, and make certain that all coding standards are followed, among other tasks. When working on numerous repositories for a single project, it can quickly become overwhelming to monitor and review everything effectively. Gitcolony effortlessly links pull requests from different repositories as long as they originate from the same branch. Once the reviews are finalized and meet your organization's criteria, they can be merged simultaneously, which greatly accelerates the code review process and boosts efficiency. With the guidance of our business rules engine, merging can be done with assurance. Furthermore, you can unify your entire development and quality assurance workflows on a single platform. As hardware expenses continue to diminish over time, in line with Moore’s Law, Gitcolony allows you to avoid revisiting past reviews, which saves you significant time and resources. Consequently, this drastically streamlines your workflow and enhances productivity for all teams involved, bringing about a more cohesive and effective development environment.
