What is Microwave Office?

Microwave Office serves as a comprehensive platform for designing a wide array of RF passive components such as filters, couplers, and attenuators, in addition to active devices that operate under small-signal (AC) conditions, including low noise and buffer amplifiers. Its linear architecture facilitates the simulation of S-parameters (Y/Z/H/ABCD), small-signal gain, linear stability, noise figure, return loss, and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), and it is enhanced with functionalities like real-time tuning, optimization, and yield analysis. Each E-series portfolio of Microwave Office includes synchronized schematic and layout editors, 2D and 3D visualizers, and a vast collection of libraries containing high-frequency distributed transmission models as well as RF models for surface-mount vendor components that come with footprints. Furthermore, it supports measurement-based simulations and RF plotting features. The Microwave Office PCB variant further augments the design experience by allowing for both linear and nonlinear RF circuit design through the sophisticated APLAC HB simulator, which boasts powerful multi-rate HB, transient-assisted HB, and time-variant simulation engines for thorough RF/microwave circuit analysis. What is CircuitSim?

CircuitSim is an extensive SPICE circuit simulation platform that boasts a collection of more than 3,000 components alongside a modern schematic editor, all available online for free without any installation requirements. It is tailored for students, teachers, and professionals, functioning directly within a web browser, which allows it to be used seamlessly on devices like Chromebooks and school-issued laptops that may have restricted access. Users can engage in seven different analysis types, encompassing both interactive and transient analyses, with results visualized on oscilloscope-style graphs, and they have the option to place probes throughout the circuit for detailed observation. The platform also enables the creation of custom components from SPICE model text and the import of symbols from KiCad, greatly enhancing the simulation experience and versatility. CircuitSim further facilitates the importation of designs from Multisim Live prior to its planned discontinuation on September 15, 2026, making it a distinctive browser-based alternative capable of handling .csim, .ms14, and .msjs files while maintaining wiring, component arrangement, net labels, probes, and simulation settings intact. Additionally, there are classroom licensing options that introduce features like seat assignments, anonymous student seating arrangements, and dedicated private project spaces for students, which significantly enriches the learning environment.
