What is NVIDIA DRIVE?

The integration of software transforms a vehicle into an intelligent machine, with the NVIDIA DRIVE™ Software stack acting as an open platform that empowers developers to design and deploy a diverse array of advanced applications for autonomous vehicles, including functions such as perception, localization and mapping, planning and control, driver monitoring, and natural language processing. Central to this software ecosystem is DRIVE OS, hailed as the inaugural operating system specifically engineered for secure accelerated computing. This robust system leverages NvMedia for sensor input processing, NVIDIA CUDA® libraries to enable effective parallel computing, and NVIDIA TensorRT™ for real-time AI inference, along with a variety of tools and modules that unlock hardware capabilities. Building on the foundation of DRIVE OS, the NVIDIA DriveWorks® SDK provides crucial middleware functionalities essential for the advancement of autonomous vehicles. Key features of this SDK include a sensor abstraction layer (SAL), multiple sensor plugins, a data recording system, vehicle I/O support, and a framework for deep neural networks (DNN), all of which are integral to improving the performance and dependability of autonomous systems. By harnessing these powerful resources, developers find themselves better prepared to explore innovative solutions and expand the horizons of automated transportation, fostering a future where smart vehicles can navigate complex environments with greater autonomy and safety.

What is NEPI by Numurus?

The Numurus Edge Platform Interface, known as NEPI, is an open-source software framework specifically crafted for edge AI applications. It comes equipped with around 90% of the critical features necessary for smart systems from the outset, such as hardware drivers, sensor integration, AI model management, event-driven automation, data collection, and an intuitive browser-based interface. The remaining 10% of the functionalities can be tailored by your team leveraging low-code scripting, which allows for additional customization to meet unique project needs. Built on the principles of ROS and ROS 2, NEPI operates entirely on the edge without depending on cloud infrastructure. Its hardware-agnostic design enables swift installations on any Linux-based system, including Raspberry Pi or Ubuntu, allowing teams to take advantage of existing hardware without requiring specialized edge devices. In the past, teams often wasted considerable time rebuilding the same infrastructure for each project, but NEPI streamlines this process by focusing on connecting sensors, running AI on the data collected, and initiating the necessary actions. Its application spans numerous industries, including defense, research, industrial automation, and education, with operational systems already implemented at firms like OceanAero, WESMAR, and VideoRay. This adaptability and efficiency position NEPI as an essential resource for teams eager to expedite their edge AI development and enhance their technological capabilities.
