What is Nano Banana 2.1?

Nano Banana 2.1 is a Google AI model for high-efficiency image generation, conversational image editing, and multimodal visual workflows. Released on October 6, 2026, it replaces Nano Banana 2 as Google's recommended model for new projects requiring a balance of image quality, speed, and cost efficiency. The model retains Flash-level performance while improving visual quality, rendered text, and consistency across successive image-editing turns. It supports text-to-image generation and conversational editing, allowing users to create visuals and then refine them through additional natural-language instructions. Images can be generated at 1K, 2K, or 4K resolution across numerous aspect ratios, including square, portrait, landscape, ultrawide, and unusually tall or wide formats. Advanced text rendering helps the model produce legible and stylized typography for applications such as diagrams, menus, infographics, advertising, and other marketing materials. Nano Banana 2.1 supports multi-reference generation with character resemblance for up to four people and high-fidelity representation of up to 10 referenced objects in a workflow. Its Google Search grounding capabilities can retrieve current information from the web, while Google Image Search grounding can provide additional visual references for generating factually or visually grounded images. The model also accepts video as multimodal context, analyzing frames and key events to create new images such as video thumbnails, cinematic posters, summary graphics, and artwork inspired by video content. Google describes Nano Banana 2.1 as the primary high-efficiency workhorse in its current image model lineup, while Nano Banana Pro remains positioned for more complex professional workflows requiring maximum world knowledge, localization, brand consistency, and creative control.

What is Google Flow?

Google Flow is an AI creative studio that helps users unlock stronger visual storytelling through Google’s advanced generative models. The platform is designed to support the full creative process, from early ideas and concept development to image generation, video creation, editing, upscaling, and final asset refinement. Google Flow includes models such as Gemini Omni, Gemini Omni Flash, Nano Banana Pro, and Veo 3.1, giving creators access to advanced tools for multimodal generation and editing. Gemini Omni enables users to create and edit videos from real or generated reference inputs while supporting world understanding, multimodality, and conversational creative control. The platform’s creative agent acts as an intelligent collaborator that understands project context, helps users explore ideas, and supports iteration while they stay focused on the work. Google Flow allows users to turn inspiration into images and videos by blending text, image, and video inputs or by building custom tools for specific creative workflows. Its natural language editing features let users make complex adjustments, refine individual assets, and scale changes across a full project. The platform includes tools for animated text, resizing videos into different aspect ratios, layer-based image editing, script writing, cast creation, storyboards, shader effects, mockups, live beat-driven video performance, sketch rendering, character backstory development, glitch effects, image grid workflows, and 360-degree environment capture. Google Flow also includes Flow Sessions, an artist program for selected creatives who experiment with the platform and collaborate with Google on passion projects. Subscription options provide different levels of credits, tool usage, tool creation, video editing, upscaling, image generation limits, agent access, and bundled Google AI benefits.
