What is OpenText NetIQ Privileged Account Manager?

To facilitate the implementation of privileged account management, it is essential to pinpoint the dependencies and privileged credentials present across the organization. Security measures grounded in identity attributes should be enforced to uphold the principle of "least privilege." Additionally, to mitigate the risk of breaches and maintain compliance throughout the identity lifecycle, it is crucial to monitor and log privileged activities. An adaptable and scalable approach to managing privileged access will automatically modify access rights in alignment with your Zero Trust strategy. In intricate hybrid environments, discovering every identity with elevated privileges can often be challenging, if not impossible. By utilizing NetIQ Privileged Account Management, you can ascertain which identities have been granted access across your entire environment, while also revealing existing dependencies. This comprehensive insight equips you with the necessary information to streamline, establish, and oversee privilege policies effectively. Ultimately, ensuring the security of privileged accounts is vital for protecting sensitive information and maintaining overall organizational integrity.

What is M4PAM?

M4PAM sets itself apart from traditional PAM solutions by embedding privileged access management directly within the database framework. It provides an all-encompassing toolkit that features server-level access control, secure SSH and RDP connections, identity-based session oversight, credential management, and thorough session recording, complemented by a Database Privileged Access Management (DBPAM) module that precisely controls user access to specific tables, columns, and rows. Unlike standard PAM systems that might disable an Active Directory account while overlooking the security of local database credentials, M4PAM effectively remedies this gap. Users enjoy the convenience of authenticating through single sign-on and two-factor authentication rather than relying on shared passwords, and they can request access that is automatically revoked upon expiration. The addition of an SQL Firewall and dynamic data masking further strengthens the management of database activities. M4PAM is flexible enough to operate as a standalone PAM solution or to be layered over an existing third-party PAM system, successfully addressing the database security void without requiring a total system replacement. It smoothly connects with native database clients and business intelligence applications, allowing for deployment without the necessity of agents, which streamlines the implementation process. This cutting-edge approach guarantees that database security remains both strong and accessible for all users, fostering an environment where security measures enhance, rather than hinder, operational efficiency.
