What is OpenShare?

OpenShare serves as a healthcare data gateway that integrates as a plugin on existing Mirth Connect or Open Integration Engine (OIE) servers, enriching their functionality with a web-based Console for managing and developing channels, Monitoring for evaluating channel performance and alerts, and a secure Gateway for outbound-only remote access. The Exchange layer enables organizations to connect directly by offering a Contact Directory, tailored sharing agreements, and secure, end-to-end encrypted transfers of HL7, FHIR, and DICOM data—this includes the transfer of comprehensive imaging studies straight from one engine to another without using cloud storage or incurring charges per study. Additionally, there is an optional dashboard that presents only metadata without any PHI, thereby ensuring user privacy. Users have the freedom to operate the Console, Gateway, Monitoring, and DICOM viewer on their own servers, promoting flexibility and control. The inter-organizational exchange functions on a network membership model, with a monthly fee of $500 per server that allows for 2.5 GB of data transfer, while any extra data will incur a charge of $0.25 per GB; however, connecting organizations can join at no cost. Presently in open beta, the membership sales have not yet launched, indicating a promising future for broader accessibility. Developed by Saga IT, this groundbreaking solution aspires to revolutionize the way healthcare data is shared across various organizations.

What is ABDM Connector?

The ABDM Connector is an essential integration platform crafted specifically for healthcare providers and software vendors, enabling smooth connections across hospital management information systems (HMIS), electronic medical and health record systems (EMR/EHR), laboratories, and various healthcare applications in line with India’s Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This platform comprises a comprehensive set of tools, such as APIs, SDKs, webhooks, a middleware connector, and data-mapping resources specifically designed for ABDM workflows, which include ABHA-based identity verification, the linking and exchange of health records, and consent-driven data sharing among authorized systems. Built to adhere to HL7 FHIR R4 standards, it also features a sandbox environment that allows for the testing of integrations before they go live. Organizations have the flexibility to connect through direct APIs or utilize a connector layer, and they can request tailored mappings and implementation strategies for legacy systems or special workflows. The main goal of the ABDM Connector is to augment existing healthcare software with ABDM connectivity while ensuring that current clinical or administrative systems can remain operational without replacement. As a result, this integration facilitates the streamlining of processes and elevates interoperability within the healthcare landscape. With its robust features and adaptability, the ABDM Connector stands as a transformative tool for modernizing healthcare delivery.
