What is Org Mode?

Org utilizes a system called Outline mode, which aids in the efficient organization of large volumes of content. This mode allows users to toggle visibility and edit structures, making it easier to navigate through content trees. The integrated table editor simplifies the process of creating tables, while the support for plain text URLs enables linking to various resources, including websites, emails, Usenet messages, BBDB entries, and project files. By managing notes files containing lists or project information in plain text, Org enhances organizational capabilities. It utilizes metadata linked to outline nodes for project and task management, enabling users to pull specific information via queries and create dynamic agenda views that integrate smoothly with the Emacs calendar and diary. This adaptability allows for the application of various project management methodologies, such as the popular GTD system by David Allen. Additionally, Org files serve as a robust authoring platform, capable of being exported into various formats like HTML, LaTeX, Open Document, and Markdown, thus proving to be an extremely versatile resource. Ultimately, by merging these functionality-rich features, Org not only optimizes workflow but also significantly boosts productivity across a wide array of projects and tasks. Its comprehensive approach makes it an invaluable tool for individuals and teams seeking to streamline their project management activities.

What is MojoPad?

MojoPad is a local-first desktop wiki for macOS that helps users turn notes, documents, research, plans, and books into an interconnected personal knowledge system. It is built around frictionless linking, where typing the name of a page automatically creates a live connection and selecting any phrase can instantly turn it into a new page. The app avoids folder-heavy organization by letting the wiki structure grow naturally as users write. MojoPad’s graph view gives users a visual map of their document, showing pages as nodes, links as edges, and important hubs as the wiki expands. Search includes instant results, quote searches, wildcard searches, and semantic search that can find related pages based on meaning rather than only matching words. Users can drag in images, files, PDFs, ePubs, and web archives, then export content to PDF, EPUB, HTML, Word, plain text, or a static site with RSS. MojoPad also supports importing full VoodooPad .vpdoc files, including pages, links, images, diagrams, PDFs, bookmarks, and web archives. Its AI features run locally through Ollama, allowing users to ask questions about their wiki or imported books and receive grounded answers with clickable sources. Privacy is central to the product, with no accounts, no API keys, no token billing, no telemetry, and no page content leaving the machine. The app stores documents as folders of plain JSON and original files, which can sit in locations such as Dropbox, iCloud Drive, or an external drive. With AES-256 encryption, daily notes, global capture, automatic backups, version history, trash recovery, and a one-time license, MojoPad gives Mac users a private and flexible replacement for older personal wiki tools.
