What is QEMU?

QEMU is a dynamic and open-source tool that functions as both a machine emulator and a virtualizer, permitting users to run various operating systems on multiple architectures. This allows for applications created for different Linux or BSD systems to be executed seamlessly on any compatible architecture. In addition, it offers the capability to run KVM and Xen virtual machines with impressive performance that is comparable to native execution. Recently, a host of new features has been incorporated, including comprehensive guest memory dumps, pre-copy/post-copy migration, and the ability to take background snapshots of guests. Furthermore, support for DEVICE_UNPLUG_GUEST_ERROR has been introduced, enabling the identification of hotplug failures as reported by guests. For macOS users utilizing Apple Silicon CPUs, the introduction of the ‘hvf’ accelerator significantly enhances AArch64 guest support. The integration of the M-profile MVE extension for the Cortex-M55 processor represents another noteworthy advancement. Additionally, AMD SEV guests can now conduct kernel binary measurement during direct kernel boot without the need for a bootloader. Enhanced vhost-user and NUMA memory options have also been made available across all supported boards, reflecting a significant commitment to compatibility. This expansion of capabilities underscores QEMU's dedication to delivering powerful virtualization solutions that adapt to a broad spectrum of user requirements and technological advancements.

What is DejaVu?

DejaVu is an innovative application tailored for Mac users, serving as both a private screen-memory tool and a desktop search engine. Upon activation, it captures and compresses screen changes, allowing the extraction and storage of text displayed on the screen so that users can effortlessly find previously encountered information by entering specific words, numbers, or phrases. The results of these searches detail the app, the window in which the information appeared, and the corresponding timestamp, while a timeline feature permits users to navigate their activity hour by hour; additionally, the My Day section presents a summary of usage organized by application and project. All captured screen memory is securely stored on the user's Mac, encrypted for safety, and is accessible only through Touch ID for enhanced security. Users can also pause the capture feature, exclude certain apps and websites, and export their memory in common formats. The free version retains memory for three days on the primary display, while the Pro edition provides unlimited memory across all displays, includes browser extensions, allows for data export, offers smart collections, and features an exclusive tool called Ask Your Memory, which provides direct answers on the device. DejaVu is designed to be compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe or newer, functioning on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs; however, the feature that generates AI-written responses requires the use of Apple Intelligence, available exclusively on Apple silicon devices. This application not only streamlines the management of screen activity but also enhances the efficiency of retrieving critical information, ensuring users have a seamless experience while navigating their digital interactions. By facilitating better organization and access to previously viewed content, DejaVu ultimately empowers users to optimize their productivity and engagement with their devices.
