What is Rune IDE?

Rune is a highly efficient, keyboard-driven integrated development environment tailored for experienced developers, seamlessly blending coding, terminals, command-line utilities, language intelligence, debugging features, and AI agents within a versatile, multi-workspace setup. Upholding the principles of the Unix philosophy, it guarantees that essential development tools are easily accessible, eliminating reliance on a mouse-centric approach. The IDE boasts three unique editing modes: a standard editor suited for those accustomed to VS Code, Cursor, or Sublime; a modal editing mode for fans of Vim and Neovim; and an Emacs-style interface, all while maintaining consistent keybindings across the platform. Workspaces are thoughtfully constructed to integrate files, terminals, tasks, debugging instruments, search options, and language intelligence, functioning seamlessly both locally and on remote servers. Within the same workspace as the code, Rune Agent operates efficiently, allowing it to read and alter files, traverse the codebase, execute commands, leverage various tools, and engage in thorough dialogues. Additionally, it supports a diverse array of AI models, such as OpenAI, Codex, Anthropic, Claude, Gemini, Amazon Bedrock, local models, and custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints, significantly enhancing its adaptability for developers. The multitude of features and capabilities that Rune offers makes it an invaluable resource for programmers aiming to optimize their development workflows, ultimately empowering them to create more efficiently and effectively. As such, it stands out as an essential tool in the modern programming landscape.

What is Codey?

Codey is a local AI development platform that brings application development, AI agents, workflow automation, and multi-provider AI access together in one private desktop workspace. Designed with a local-first approach, it allows developers to work directly with their existing projects while maintaining control over source code, files, and AI integrations. The platform supports more than 70 AI providers, including Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, OpenRouter, compatible third-party services, and locally hosted language models, giving users flexibility without locking them into a single ecosystem. Codey includes a collection of specialized AI agents that collaborate on different aspects of software development, including implementation, planning, research, code exploration, and supporting tasks. Prometheus focuses on coding, Athena organizes project planning, Scout searches large codebases for relevant context, and Iris assists with research and background execution. The Matis Autopilot agent can generate complete production-ready Next.js applications from natural language prompts while incorporating polished interface design throughout the development process. Hermes powers Workpilot by extending AI capabilities beyond programming into document editing, spreadsheets, presentations, PDF processing, browser automation, file management, and n8n workflow automation. Developers can choose how much responsibility they delegate by switching between Co-Pilot, Autopilot, and Workpilot modes depending on the task. Because Codey runs locally, users retain greater privacy and control while still benefiting from advanced cloud AI models or self-hosted alternatives. The platform creates a unified environment where software engineering, AI-assisted productivity, automation, and intelligent agents work together within a single desktop application.
