What is Scribing?

Scribing.io functions as an advanced clinical intelligence platform tailored for ambient documentation and the automation of various operational processes. Utilizing state-of-the-art multi-party speaker diarization alongside clinical natural language processing (NLP), it adeptly converts natural discussions into structured Markdown notes in formats such as SOAP, BIRP, DAP, and HPI. Moreover, the platform is proficient in identifying and justifying ICD-10-CM and CPT G2211 codes by integrating live audio with historical electronic health record (EHR) data in accordance with FHIR R4 standards. To facilitate interoperability, Scribing.io utilizes a Chrome Extension that employs DOM-level mapping to smoothly input data into specific fields of restrictive electronic medical records (EMRs) such as Kipu, Behave Health, and eCW, while also providing a native bi-directional API synchronization for platforms like Epic and Athenahealth. In addition, the platform includes a 24/7 AI Voice Agent that efficiently handles appointment scheduling and triage, as well as a Virtual Assistant that can initiate clinical orders and patient follow-ups based on verbal instructions. Security protocols are robust, featuring 7-year write-once read-many (WORM) audit trails coupled with SHA-256 hashing, thereby ensuring adherence to rigorous HIPAA, GDPR, and PIPEDA standards. Furthermore, the system accommodates over ten languages, integrating specialty-specific logic to improve user experience across a wide range of medical practices. This extensive array of features solidifies Scribing.io's status as a holistic solution dedicated to enhancing clinical efficiency and documentation precision, making it an invaluable asset for healthcare providers aiming to streamline their operations.

What is HL7 FHIR?

FHIR is described as a 'RESTful' framework, which corresponds with the broader industry understanding of REST principles. However, it mainly operates at Level 2 of the REST Maturity Model in its fundamental specifications, while full Level 3 compliance can be achieved through the integration of extensions. As a standardized framework, FHIR depends on the consistency of resource structures and interfaces, which some critics might argue is at odds with REST's foundational concepts; nevertheless, this standardization is essential for ensuring effective interoperability among diverse systems. Each distinct "resource type" comes with a specific set of interactions, enabling meticulous resource management. Applications that claim to comply with this framework identify as "RESTful FHIR," highlighting their commitment to these established standards. Moreover, within this RESTful architecture, transactions are conducted directly on server resources through HTTP requests and responses, reinforcing the framework's functionality and integrity. This organized methodology not only boosts interoperability but also simplifies the development process for applications leveraging FHIR, ultimately leading to more efficient healthcare solutions. Additionally, the clarity provided by FHIR's structured approach helps developers focus on creating robust applications that can easily integrate with existing health information systems.
