What is Simcenter PSIM?

Simcenter PSIM is a Siemens simulation and design tool created specifically for power electronics, motor drives, and embedded control applications. It has served the power electronics field for more than 25 years and is known for combining a user-friendly interface with a strong simulation engine. The software helps engineers perform power converter loss calculations, motor drive efficiency analysis, conducted EMI analysis, and analog or digital control design. Simcenter PSIM is designed to save time by improving simulation convergence, allowing users to spend more effort exploring design options and less effort troubleshooting simulation setup issues. Its specialized design suites support power supplies, resonant LLC converters, motor drives, EMI analysis, filter design, and hybrid electric vehicle powertrain systems. Engineers can quickly calculate switching and conduction losses for devices such as diodes, MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC devices, and GaN devices. The platform can also calculate core and winding losses for inductors without significantly slowing simulation performance. Simcenter PSIM supports high-speed active switch simulation, helping users model current and voltage waveforms without the convergence issues that often appear in other tools. Its embedded code generation capabilities allow teams to generate consistent C code from control schematics, supporting rapid control prototyping and faster time-to-market. The software also includes Monte Carlo, sensitivity, and fault analysis tools to help verify designs and support Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis. With built-in C-block capabilities, engineers can add custom C code directly into a model without a separate compiler, making Simcenter PSIM a flexible environment for advanced power electronics development.

What is LTspice?

The graphical schematic capture interface enables users to analyze circuit schematics and produce simulation outputs, which can be explored in greater detail through the built-in waveform viewer. One essential factor in circuit design is the ability to quickly grasp the circuit's layout, ensuring its correctness and identifying any limitations it may have. LTspice stands out among a wide range of simulation tools, facilitating fast design iterations to improve workflow efficiency. Moreover, users can take advantage of keyboard shortcuts in LTspice, providing a streamlined method for executing commands without the need to navigate through menus or toolbars. Our extensive collection of technical resources addresses a variety of LTspice topics, which includes tutorials on utilizing transformers, integrating third-party models, and designing and managing symbols. Additionally, these resources are designed to bolster your overall knowledge and expertise with the software, enabling you to utilize its full potential effectively. Engaging with these materials can significantly enhance your proficiency and confidence in using LTspice for complex circuit simulations.
