What is Simcenter PSIM?

Simcenter PSIM is a Siemens simulation and design tool created specifically for power electronics, motor drives, and embedded control applications. It has served the power electronics field for more than 25 years and is known for combining a user-friendly interface with a strong simulation engine. The software helps engineers perform power converter loss calculations, motor drive efficiency analysis, conducted EMI analysis, and analog or digital control design. Simcenter PSIM is designed to save time by improving simulation convergence, allowing users to spend more effort exploring design options and less effort troubleshooting simulation setup issues. Its specialized design suites support power supplies, resonant LLC converters, motor drives, EMI analysis, filter design, and hybrid electric vehicle powertrain systems. Engineers can quickly calculate switching and conduction losses for devices such as diodes, MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC devices, and GaN devices. The platform can also calculate core and winding losses for inductors without significantly slowing simulation performance. Simcenter PSIM supports high-speed active switch simulation, helping users model current and voltage waveforms without the convergence issues that often appear in other tools. Its embedded code generation capabilities allow teams to generate consistent C code from control schematics, supporting rapid control prototyping and faster time-to-market. The software also includes Monte Carlo, sensitivity, and fault analysis tools to help verify designs and support Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis. With built-in C-block capabilities, engineers can add custom C code directly into a model without a separate compiler, making Simcenter PSIM a flexible environment for advanced power electronics development.

What is Sensbench?

Sensbench is a web-based simulator tailored for circuits and microcontrollers, serving as a fantastic resource for education, prototyping, and testing with platforms like Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi Pico. Users have the ability to set up virtual boards and components on a digital breadboard, create circuit connections, adjust sketches, compile firmware, and run it on an emulated microcontroller while observing serial outputs and component behavior. The platform further supports SPICE analog simulations and mixed digital-analog circuits, providing a comprehensive toolkit for users. It includes a wide range of guided examples and features virtual components such as sensors, displays, LEDs, and relays to enrich the user experience. An innovative AI builder can convert a written project specification into a complete parts list, wiring diagram, and firmware, while an MCP server enables compatible AI clients to interact with the workbench effortlessly. While the essential features of Sensbench are accessible for free via a web browser, users have the option to purchase additional AI credits and subscription plans for more advanced project functionalities. Additionally, Sensbench offers physical project kits that come equipped with pre-flashed boards and detailed instructional guides, including specialized kits for integration with Home Assistant through local Wi-Fi. This unique blend of virtual resources and tangible project kits positions Sensbench as an adaptable solution for both novices and seasoned enthusiasts in the field. Its commitment to fostering hands-on learning ensures that users can effectively bring their electronic ideas to life.
