What is Sprites?

Sprites by Fly.io is a platform for creating stateful sandbox environments that run arbitrary code inside hardware-isolated Linux computers. A Sprite is designed to answer the question of where to safely run a blob of code, whether that code comes from an AI agent, a developer workflow, a user-uploaded binary, or an application process. Unlike short-lived stateless sandboxes, Sprites are persistent environments that can keep files, state, and execution context across runs. The platform supports checkpoint and restore so workloads can pause, resume, and recover without rebuilding everything from scratch. Sprites use a fast directly attached NVMe filesystem for active work and continuously sync that filesystem to durable external object storage. This storage model gives developers a normal Linux disk experience while supporting durable persistence and automatic growth. Developers can install the Sprites CLI, log in, create a Sprite, run commands, and connect directly to a Sprite console. The platform also provides a REST API and language support for JavaScript, Go, Elixir, and Python. Sprites include capabilities around persistence, checkpoints, Sprite URLs, sandbox VMs, and network policy for controlling how environments run and connect. Pricing is based on actual usage across CPU hours, memory hours, hot storage, and cold storage, making it practical for bursty workloads like coding agents or lightweight web apps. By combining hardware isolation, Linux compatibility, stateful persistence, checkpointing, durable storage, APIs, and usage-based billing, Sprites gives developers a flexible execution layer for AI agents, sandboxed code, and persistent application environments.

What is Isle?

Isle provides specialized managed environments designed specifically for desktop applications utilized by computer-use agents, featuring integral guardrails, application oversight, and artifact checkpoints. Instead of simply offering a generic machine for the agent, Isle encapsulates each application within a framework that includes essential monitoring, containment, and recovery protocols to facilitate efficient operation. These environments come pre-configured with all necessary software readily available, and regular health checks confirm that applications are functioning properly instead of just checking for online connectivity. Developers have the flexibility to implement any computer-use model or agent loop utilizing widely adopted functionalities such as screenshots, mouse interactions, keyboard inputs, file transfers, and execution commands. In addition to this, artifact checkpoints help preserve important progress prior to major actions, allowing for restoration if problems occur, while recovery controls grant agents the ability to restart applications and return to the latest stable version. This all-encompassing methodology not only boosts productivity but also reduces interruptions, making it a highly effective solution for overseeing desktop applications. Ultimately, Isle's innovative approach ensures that user experience is optimized and operational efficiency is maintained.
