What is Squash Labs?

Testing environments on demand, specifically designed for web applications and microservices, are now accessible, allowing for faster iterations and significant time savings via temporary virtual machines associated with each code branch. By connecting with your GitHub, Bitbucket, or GitLab account, Squash enables effortless integration of new code into your repository and the initiation of a Pull Request. When you create a Pull Request, Squash automatically adds a comment containing a testing URL that, when clicked, activates a dedicated virtual machine to deploy your new code. This capability allows you to see your changes in real-time while testing your application within a secure environment. Teams often waste considerable time managing their environments and troubleshooting bugs that arise specifically from these settings. A single bug can trigger a cascade of issues, wasting precious time for QA teams, product managers, and developers alike. The repercussions of just one lost QA cycle due to environment-specific glitches can greatly disrupt project timelines. Moreover, the emergence of additional bugs is frequently worsened by a lack of automation, outdated libraries, data inconsistencies, or limited server resources. Despite the fact that test environments generally incur continuous costs, they are only utilized for 30-40% of the time on average, resulting in inefficiencies that could be resolved through better management strategies. This situation underscores the urgent need for innovative approaches that enhance the effectiveness of testing resources while reducing instances of downtime and maximizing productivity. Ultimately, embracing such solutions can lead to a more streamlined development process and improved overall project outcomes.

What is Garden?

Garden is an innovative cloud-based platform that accelerates your development, testing, and CI/CD processes. It enables you to swiftly create realistic environments, make iterative changes during coding, and efficiently execute tests from any location. With a single tool and configuration, you can manage everything from the initial source code to the final product. This means all your environments, services, and database migrations are streamlined using the same command set. Garden simplifies the process of conducting end-to-end testing across various environments. Unlike your laptop, which is not equipped to handle large distributed systems, Garden allows for remote building, testing, and running of services at the same speed as local development. You can also automate the destruction of environments and the removal of Kubernetes resources based on inactivity or preset schedules. Additionally, the platform offers expert support, high-touch onboarding, and customized training to ensure that you receive assistance throughout your entire journey. With Garden, your development experience is enhanced, making it easier to focus on what truly matters—building great software.
