What is Subspace?

Subspace is a groundbreaking environment designed for AI-native agents, aimed at assisting developers and teams in managing, coordinating, and collaborating with various coding agents in a unified setting that preserves context across multiple sessions. Instead of treating each engagement with AI as an isolated occurrence, this platform fosters a continuous memory system that encapsulates every interaction into organized insights, detailing choices, challenges, and progress, which are regularly updated to mirror the project's dynamic nature. This collective memory is linked to the entire workspace rather than tied to individual tools, allowing various agents, including Claude Code, Codex, and others, to effortlessly pick up where previous sessions left off without requiring redundant explanations or manual context adjustments. Users of Subspace can seamlessly incorporate terminals, files, documentation, browser views, and git workflows into structured workspaces, enabling the simultaneous use of multiple agents while facilitating quick shifts between different projects. This all-encompassing strategy not only boosts productivity and collaboration but also transforms the development landscape into a more streamlined and efficient process, ultimately leading to better outcomes for teams. By leveraging this innovative platform, developers can enhance their workflow and significantly reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks.

What is Microsoft Autopilot?

Microsoft Autopilot is a long-running AI agent in Microsoft Copilot built to handle persistent, recurring, and proactive work across an organization. The product was previously called Scout and is positioned by Microsoft as a digital teammate that can continue operating without waiting for a prompt at every stage. Users can assign Autopilot a name, role, goal, and operating boundaries, after which it can monitor activity, follow up on threads, run recurring work, and resume projects over extended periods. One example provided by Microsoft is a supplier review process in which Autopilot can create the schedule and workback plan, prepare for meetings, manage follow-ups, and contact stakeholders for updates. Autopilot is cloud-hosted, so its work can continue while users are offline or focused elsewhere. Each Autopilot instance lives within the organization’s tenant and has its own identity, memory, computer, and workspace. It is built on Microsoft IQ, which connects enterprise knowledge, data, and workflows to provide context for the agent’s actions. Autopilot can surface across Microsoft 365 experiences including Teams, Outlook, chats, channels, and documents, where users can interact with it similarly to a colleague. The service is governed through organizational permissions, audit controls, and policy boundaries so companies can define what the agent is allowed to access and execute. Microsoft positions Autopilot alongside Cowork and Code as one of Copilot’s long-running agentic capabilities, with usage-based billing applied to this type of work. As announced on September 25, 2026, Autopilot was expanding to private preview at the end of September.
