What is Surpass?

Surpass is an all-encompassing and integrated collection of applications aimed at simplifying the daily functions of various library types. It serves a diverse array of institutions, such as elementary and secondary school districts, universities, public libraries, corporate environments, and specialized libraries. The suite features four primary applications: Surpass Select, Surpass SL, Centriva, and Surpass CL. In addition, Surpass provides a distinct package designed specifically for church libraries, while its hosting service allows libraries to migrate their systems entirely online, eliminating the need for IT staff or on-site servers. This level of adaptability and user-friendliness positions Surpass as an essential tool for the effective management of library operations, ensuring that libraries can focus on serving their communities. Furthermore, by incorporating advanced technology, Surpass enhances the overall library experience for both staff and patrons alike.

What is Inno Setup?

Inno Setup, created by Jordan Russell and Martijn Laan, is a free installer designed for Windows applications, first introduced in 1997. Since its inception, it has undergone significant advancements, allowing it to rival and frequently surpass many paid installers in both functionality and dependability. The tool is compatible with all Windows versions released since 2006, including the most recent updates like Windows 11 and Windows 10. Moreover, it provides extensive support for installing 64-bit applications specifically on 64-bit Windows editions, as well as support for x64, ARM64, and Itanium systems. Users can opt for either administrative or non-administrative installation types, which enhances deployment options considerably. Inno Setup also allows for the compilation of a single executable file for easier online distribution, and it includes disk spanning capabilities for larger setups. The installer boasts advanced features such as the ability to compare file version information, replace files in use, manage shared file counting, register DLLs and OCX files, and install fonts as needed. Additionally, it facilitates the creation of shortcuts in various locations, including the desktop and start menu, thereby improving user convenience. This comprehensive set of features and its ease of use contribute to Inno Setup's popularity among developers looking for a robust and cost-free installation solution, making it a go-to choice in the industry. With its ongoing updates and community support, Inno Setup continues to evolve, ensuring it meets the changing needs of developers everywhere.
