What is The XDI Climate Risk Hub?

The XDI Climate Risk Hub delivers top-tier analyses of physical climate risks on demand. Users can quickly access risk ratings for specific assets or entire portfolios, with ratings categorized into five bands derived from ten distinct hazards. Key indicators include Maximum Value At Risk and potential productivity losses, with assessments based on Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) and scenarios outlined by the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), covering years from 1990 to 2100. The platform boasts impressive spatial resolution, reaching as fine as 5 meters by 5 meters, and offers extensive customization options. XDI enhances its risk evaluations by integrating engineering data, hazard specifics, and contextual information alongside weather, climate, and financial datasets. The engineering assessments focus on vulnerabilities linked to 140 standardized archetypes, which encompass residential, industrial, and commercial structures, allowing for adaptations to be tested for resilience. Hazard probabilities are derived from historical weather data beginning in 1990, taking into account the local environment, including features such as topography and soil characteristics, alongside flood mapping and various other relevant factors. This multifaceted approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of potential risks associated with climate change.

What is Fathom?

Fathom's Global Flood Map offers a comprehensive collection of hazard data and insights regarding flood risk on a worldwide level. It tackles major flood threats such as pluvial, fluvial, and coastal incidents, maintaining a resolution of around 30 meters and providing in-depth information on depth and extent for return intervals spanning from once every five years to once every thousand years. By integrating climate dynamics, this map allows for the assessment of flood risks across a range of future scenarios projected up to the year 2100. Key attributes include multi-peril flood layers, enhanced terrain data obtained through the FABDEM+ digital elevation model, and flexible access options like API, portal, or on-premises hosting. This tool is designed to serve multiple sectors including insurance, engineering, financial services, corporate entities, and international development, equipping these fields to effectively incorporate flood hazard insights and climate change data into their risk management protocols. Additionally, Fathom is committed to scientific rigor, ensuring that its models undergo thorough validation and are published in leading academic journals, underscoring its mission to foster well-informed decision-making in managing flood risks. This dedication to accuracy and reliability further enhances the platform's value, making it an essential resource for those aiming to navigate the complexities of flood risk assessment.
