What is Triple Cheese?

Triple Cheese is an exceptional freeware synthesizer that distinguishes itself by employing comb filters for sound generation, setting it apart from the traditional reliance on oscillators or wavetables. It features a series of three comb filter modules, each offering eight unique modes, which significantly broadens the sound design possibilities for users. This synthesizer supports diverse playing styles, including the ability to play up to 16 voices in polyphonic mode, while also providing duophonic, monophonic, and legato options with adjustable portamento time for enhanced expressiveness. Furthermore, it includes two ADSR envelopes with customizable sustain stages and two LFOs that sync with the host, one being a standard LFO and the other known as "vibrator," which adds both delay and amplitude modulation capabilities. A versatile VCA with amplitude modulation and pan controls further amplifies its functionality. In addition, Triple Cheese comes with five built-in effects—chorus, flanger, phaser, delay, and reverb—that enrich its sonic spectrum. The range of modulation sources is extensive, featuring wheels, velocity, pressure, breath, key follow, and random inputs, which enable complex performance techniques. The user interface is designed to be scalable between 70% and 200%, as well as skinnable, allowing users to tailor its appearance to their preferences. This combination of features not only enhances its usability but also makes Triple Cheese an enticing choice for sound designers at all levels, eager to push the boundaries of their creative explorations. Ultimately, its unique approach and comprehensive capabilities make it an intriguing tool for crafting innovative soundscapes.

What is Helm?

Helm is designed to work seamlessly with GNU/Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows operating systems. You have the option to use Helm either as a standalone synthesizer or as a plugin compatible with formats like LV2, VST, VST3, and AU, available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This versatility means you can enjoy Helm without worrying about digital rights management (DRM), allowing you to explore, modify, and share the source code freely, whether in its original state or after making alterations. Serving as a software synthesizer, Helm provides users the capability to create electronic music directly from their computers. Its guiding principle of being "free as in freedom" signifies that you retain full control over the software, rather than being governed by it. Financially, Helm follows a "pay what you want" model, enabling you to use it at no cost if that is your preference. Additionally, any sounds generated by Helm are the property of the user, giving you copyright ownership over each sound you create. The interface features small power buttons in the top left corner that allow you to easily toggle various modules on or off. Among these essential modules, the SUB module acts as a key sound generator, handling a single oscillator that usually produces a note an octave lower than the one being played. This user-friendly design encourages experimentation, making it easy for you to develop and refine your own distinctive sounds. You can explore endless sonic possibilities and unleash your creativity with Helm's intuitive layout.
