What is Urban Network Analysis Toolbox for ArcGIS?

The City Form Lab has introduced a groundbreaking toolbox tailored for the examination of urban networks. This pioneering ArcGIS toolbox stands out as the first of its kind, incorporating centrality tools that enable the calculation of five unique graph analysis metrics on spatial networks: reach, gravity, betweenness, closeness, and straightness. Furthermore, it contains redundancy tools that compute the redundancy index, pinpoint redundant pathways, and evaluate the wayfinding index. Remarkably, these tools feature three significant capabilities that enhance their utility in spatial analysis of urban street networks. To begin with, they can take into account both geometry and topology in the input networks, allowing the incorporation of metric distance (like meters) and topological distance (such as turns) as impedance factors during analysis. Additionally, unlike previous software that only addressed two network components—nodes and edges—the UNA tools introduce a third component: buildings, which act as the spatial units for all analytical evaluations. This holistic methodology not only bolsters the precision of urban analysis but also yields richer insights into the interactions within urban settings. As urban environments continue to evolve, such tools will be essential for planners and researchers aiming to understand complex urban dynamics.

What is Spacemaker?

Spacemaker is an intuitive, collaborative cloud-based AI platform designed for architects, urban planners, and real estate developers to craft outstanding site proposals. It empowers users to produce 3D massing models of their projects and the surrounding environment by utilizing automated datasets, enabling them to assess site designs and gain accurate evaluations across over 100 parameters, including elements such as noise, wind, sunlight, and microclimates. By enhancing the initial stages of planning and design, this software offers user-friendly tools and generative design features that support comprehensive feasibility studies and conceptual designs. It boasts pre-existing datasets and sophisticated design tools for efficient 2D and 3D drafting, along with real-time calculations of floor areas and analyses related to noise, wind, solar energy, sunlight, and parking layouts. Additionally, Spacemaker facilitates import and export options in IFC and OBJ formats, automates area calculations, performs microclimate evaluations, visualizes differences between various proposals, and generates apartment layouts and view analyses, solidifying its status as a crucial asset for contemporary design projects. This combination of features allows professionals to explore innovative solutions while ensuring their designs are effective and practical. Ultimately, Spacemaker stands out as an essential resource for those seeking to revolutionize their approach to design and planning.
