What is Verdant?

The Verdant Plant Mechanic allows users to generate 3D plants in a procedural manner, meaning that creating just one flower can lead to an entire bouquet! By leveraging fundamental shapes, this tool facilitates the design of nearly any type of plant one can envision. The plants produced via this mechanic can be exported in multiple formats such as 3DS, LWO, OBJ, and DXF. Furthermore, we are in the process of enhancing Verdant for Photoshop and gearing up for the launch of Verdant for SoftImage, which will provide even more export alternatives. Digital Element has plans to introduce additional Verdant plug-ins in 2004, significantly broadening its functionality. As a cutting-edge plug-in for Photoshop, Verdant enables users to easily randomize, rotate, scale, and position plants and trees within their creative projects. The team at Digital Element, recognized for their contributions to Aurora and WorldBuilder, is thrilled to present this revolutionary plug-in to you. This innovative tool is set to revolutionize the creation and application of digital vegetation in design, making it easier than ever for artists and designers to bring their visions to life. With its versatile features, Verdant is truly a game changer in the realm of digital plant generation.

What is SAVE?

In collaboration with OMV, the national oil and gas company of Austria, SAVE has developed a virtual simulation program that replicates a refinery environment for training. This cutting-edge initiative enables trainees to master the safe and effective use of equipment before engaging in actual refinery tasks. Participants wear VR headsets to fully immerse themselves in the training setting, where they can interact with sophisticated machinery, navigate through the facility, and check various operational gauges. An instructor, who is experienced in the field, monitors their progress, offering guidance, constructive feedback, and correcting any mistakes made during their training. Trainees can significantly reduce the time it takes to become proficient in handling major machinery and operations, with some reporting a reduction of up to a year. They are also afforded the opportunity to rehearse skills at their own pace until they achieve the required competency, which enhances safety within the plant. This innovative training approach is vital for upholding safety protocols for new employees who may not have prior experience in such environments. In the end, SAVE not only improves the educational experience but also cultivates a strong culture of safety and readiness in the oil and gas sector, reflecting the industry's commitment to excellence. Furthermore, this training method positions new workers for success as they transition into real-world operations, significantly benefiting both the individuals and the organization.
