What is .bit?

A traditional account acts as a repository for your data that you do not own, such as a Facebook account, which is designed to keep your personal details within the platform itself. Ownership of your Facebook account resides with the company, allowing it to exercise complete control over your information, including the authority to modify or delete it at any time; similarly, other examples of conventional accounts include email addresses, mobile phone numbers, and Twitter accounts, all of which are not truly yours. In contrast, a .bit serves as a revolutionary type of data repository that empowers you with ownership rights without requiring any permissions. While various applications can access the data stored in a .bit, it is exclusively you who can add information, ensuring that you maintain total control and ownership over this digital container. Critically, no one has the power to erase it, thereby reinstating your sovereignty over your data. A .bit functions as a self-sovereign data container, enabling you to operate a single account across multiple applications, which unifies your data into a singular repository instead of having it dispersed across various traditional accounts. This evolution marks a pivotal change in how we oversee and manage our personal information, highlighting the increasing importance of data ownership in the digital age.

What is Etleneum?

On Etleneum, developers have the opportunity to create code that manages digital assets, operates exactly as intended, and is accessible from anywhere in the world. More than just a wordplay on Ethereum, Etleneum is a genuine platform designed for smart contracts. It empowers users to build applications that are verifiable by the public and trustworthy, capable of executing customized code while seamlessly integrating with various services, all accessible through an API and optionally featuring a user account system along with authentic Lightning payments. The illustration provided shows a contract that includes two key functions: bet and resolve. In this example, account 74 made a wager with account 12 by calling the bet function (details of the contract and the specifics of the call have been omitted for clarity). Afterward, an anonymous oracle executed the resolve function to conclude the wager, resulting in account 12 receiving the total amount of satoshis. Essentially, smart contracts are composed of a set of functions, linked funds, and a JSON state; the calls may or may not be traceable and may involve satoshis or be independent of them. This versatility opens the door to a multitude of creative and groundbreaking applications that can be developed on the Etleneum platform, showcasing its potential to redefine how digital transactions are handled.
