Established in January 2015, sipXcom was created as a result of a split from the sipXecs project, driven by the eZuce, Inc. development team. The challenges faced by the sipXecs and SIPfoundry communities in broadening their developer pool due to restrictive contributor agreements led to the inception of sipXcom, which embraces an open contribution model. The sipXcom source code is distributed under the copyleft-friendly AGLP v3 (Affero General Public License), which offers developers increased flexibility. Currently, SWARM is the project name for the next version of sipXcom and sipXecs, with a production release anticipated in early 2017.
