My team uses it everyday. Its indispensable!
Date: Nov 07 2022SummaryDbVisualizer is the goto tool for me and my team to access DBs across multiple platforms without having to switch tools. As an organization that uses DBs from different vendors, this is a must have for us. Our ETL and SAS teams use the tool for querying the DB and for data analysis. The macro-tool is super useful when it comes to ETL type work. I know members of my team who use this tool multiple times a day. It is indispensable.
PositiveKey Pros:
- Multi-platform use and access
- Great UI that is functional , yet easy to use
- Easy to discover schema, save schema, duplicate databases for multiple environments
- Easy to export data for reporting purposesNegative- Need for admin privileges to use the tool

- Setting up a new DB could be little tricky
- And queries with large result sets sometimes make the application hang and one has to restart the whole application
- Sometimes queries are very difficult to stop -

Couldn't be without it
Date: Nov 07 2022SummaryI moved from a MS SQL Server environment to an IBM DB2 environment and found the out-of-the-box toolset to be lacking significantly. Adding DBVis dramatically improved the ease of working with databases.
PositiveResponsive application, intuitive UI, auto format SQL. Application is highly customizable, even things like the auto-formatting of SQL code feature is customizable to fit your preferred formatting.
NegativeNot a lot of new features. Would love to see integrations to automation tools like Power Automate Desktop. Would also like to see a way of saving queries in more of a library format than the standard saving of SQL files.

A great product that keeps getting better.
Date: Jun 22 2022SummaryMy department has been using this product for a number of years, the overall cost, ease of use, and great documentation are excellent. The ability to use the free version before diving into pro is also really great.
PositiveEase of use and the ability to hit different databases is really a plus. I also really appreciate the SQL History item - very helpful. Cross platform doesn't have a different user experience.
NegativeReally can't think of anything, I've assisted a number of fairly non-tech users in setting up and running and while it may feel a bit overwhelming, it really has not been an issue.

DbVisualizer with Mimer SQL review
Date: Jun 22 2022SummaryDbVisualizer handles every aspect of database integration. From loading data, checking and developing SQL statements from both a functional and performance point of view. The fact that you continue with your previous session every time you run is really useful and improves productivity. For the (very) advanced database user it is also possible to extend DbVisualizer with new functionality. This is straightforward and fun.
PositiveI really like the integration with the database system (Mimer SQL in my case). Every possible SQL command is available via menus. Excellent for seldom used statements.
Error handling is really clear and to the point.
Nice explain plan integration gives a good overview of what happens with an SQL statement.NegativeSetting up your first connection is still difficult (although better than some versions back). In particular I find Ping Server button confusing because yu have filled in everything on how to connect with the database server. But ping only checks if the machine is alive, rather than my database connection settings which would be more useful.

SQL Tool of Choice
Date: Nov 07 2022SummaryOther folks in the company use other tools that I found a little more difficult to use. I recommend to everyone that uses an SQL tool.
PositiveDBViz has been my sql tool of choice for the past 3-4 years. I used the free version for a couple of years and now have upgraded to the pro version. Very easy to configure and use.
NegativeOnly 1 window at a time unless you have the pro version.

One Tool Supporting Many Vendors
Date: Nov 07 2022SummaryI first started using DbVisulaizer years ago when searching for a replacement for Toad at a SaaS startup in Mountain View. We were looking to lower some of our operational costs around the management of our Oracle investments. As time progressed, the team began working with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL and Cassandra. The selection of DbVisulaizer to replace an Oracle centric tool for us became a great universal investment.
PositiveOptions - support for a number of database management systems in one tool. Unlike some of the alternatives, there is actual support behind these claims.
Ease of Install - You can pull down a combined installer that handle JVM dependencies - making the install a breeze. Especially useful when rolling out to non-developers.
Features - DbVisualizer comes standard with everything you need to work with modern databases. Query support, schema discovery and object scripting. Great visual queues when working across non-prod and production environments.NegativeDriver management can be a little tedious at times, but it still beats building out JDBC connections in a text file by a mile.

DbVisualizer is my go-to database client!
Date: Nov 07 2022SummaryI've used DbVis daily for over 10 years for multiple platforms (Oracle, SQLServer, Postgres, Netezza, and Vertica). I've tried many other paid and free tools, and one of them really compare at this price point. It does everything I need and continues to be improved year over year.
PositiveConnection management, wide DBMS platform support, query parameterization, query history, multiple export formats, CLI functionality, object management, query timing, environment customization.
NegativeTBH there's so much to like that I have a hard time finding things to criticize. I use this tool every single day and have yet to run into something I need to do that it doesn't support. The only issues I've run into are JVM-related and occur with OOM exceptions, but that has only happened after I've had a long-running instance of DbVis and have returned large result sets. Easily resolved by the occasional restart.

Quick and easy cross DB interrogation and data structure overview
Date: Jun 22 2022SummaryHow easy it is to navigate the data through entities (tables) and display a graphic representation of the relations. I haven't seen this feature in any other DB admin software.
PositiveEase of use along with a plethora of customizable options makes for an amazing tool. Worth the price.
NegativeWhile the plethora of options can sometimes cause analysis paralysis.

DbViz - A Great Product For Everyday Use!
Date: Jun 22 2022SummaryLove a product like DbViz that's easy to use but makes me look like a genius! Everyone with data that needs to be accessed and queried will find no need to look further.
PositiveReliable... dependable... easy to use! Love the fact that it gives me access to my data in a way that isn't complicated. Product is upgraded regularly and it just never fails to deliver. Would recommend to anyone at all levels...from beginner to advanced user.
NegativeNot sure there is much I could think of regarding what I don't like. There are very few products that I've found that seems tailored to all levels of experience. This one isn't hard to learn. Once your database connections are properly set...you're ready to go. Easy peasy!

Fluid and Smooth
Date: Jun 23 2021SummaryOverall, the DBV experience has been outstanding. Me and the other developers have enjoyed using the application and it is an essential part of our work day.
PositiveEase of use is incredible and makes working on projects extremely easy. The UI is unbelievably easy to understand and makes it getting work completed a lot easier. I would highly suggest DBV for anyone looking.
NegativeAt times the app will be slow to respond and I need to force quit the application, but other than that small hiccup I do not have a real issue that needs addressed.

Awesome product and user-friendly
Updated: Jun 24 2021SummaryI've been using DB Visualizer since 2016. Since then I've been renewing annually. Very user-friendly.
PositiveI like how user-friendly the tool is. I am not an expert in queries but this tool helped me a lot. I highly recommend it even for beginners.
NegativeThis tool is perfect and very easy to use than other similar tools. I learned SQL because of this tool. I think one of the cons probably is pricing. It would be nice to lower the cost, especially for loyal customers :D.

Great database management tool
Updated: Aug 02 2021SummaryI use dbvisualizer for several years already, managing several dozens database connections for different projects.
I've tried several other database management tools, but ended up with dbvis, as it covers all of my needs and is cheaper than comparable products on the market.Positive- works with lots of database types
- helps organising database connections into tree-like structure
- has smart query language completion
- supports connection profile environment-based restrictions (prevents from running potentially harmful query on wrong server)
- offers master password protection for saved connection passwords
- single-user renewal licence is not so expensive, you can use all of the paid features even after licence expiration (but lose access to updates)Negative- RAM consumption is somewhat high

One DB Tool to Rule Them All
Updated: Oct 17 2021SummaryDbVisualizer is an excellent database tool - I would recommend it to anyone who is managing or using multiple databases.
PositiveExcellent SQL workbench tool. Allows you to connect to all databases, manage the database, run queries, etc. Great all round tool for anyone managing or using multiple databases...it's much better than having to jump from tool to tool using the database vendors own products.
NegativeI can't think of anything that I don't like. DbVisualizer is easy to use and very intuitive.
