What is QR.io?
With QR.io, users can track the number of scans on their QR Codes, gaining insights into the location and timing of each scan. Furthermore, those with no coding experience can easily create customized landing pages for their QR Codes, which makes the tool user-friendly for everyone. Although both types of QR Codes fulfill a similar function, they vary greatly in their capabilities for updates, statistics, and tracking. Dynamic QR Codes allow users to design a landing page that can be adjusted even after the QR Code has been released, ensuring ongoing relevance. Additionally, they offer essential scan data that reveals user engagement metrics, including the volume of scans, geographical locations, and timestamps. This feature is especially beneficial for business owners across diverse industries such as restaurants, fitness centers, retail shops, as well as for artists and influencers who may not possess technical expertise. Conversely, Static QR Codes do not offer the same adaptability and lack the ability to provide analytical data about scan activity. Therefore, deciding between Dynamic and Static QR Codes can play a crucial role in enhancing your interaction with your target audience, ultimately influencing the effectiveness of your marketing strategies. This distinction highlights the importance of selecting the right type of QR Code for your specific needs.

AVOID
Date: Jun 11 2026SummaryAVOID unless you want to pay subscription fees. They give you a QR code without even knowing it's a free trial, then they inactivate it and ask you to pay.
PositiveVery nice, easy to use, customizable platform, lots of QR designs to choose from. The problem is they are deceptive.
NegativeMisleading advertising and shady business practice of enticing people to use a free QR code, then making it inactive and asking for paid subscription.

They are a scam
Date: May 06 2025SummaryA victim of their extortion. They offer a QR code, that is actually a link to their own site, which they forward to your own site. It allows them to generate some statistics about people who scan the code.
But, they don't really notify you that their so-called "free" code is going to revert to a service you must pay $35/month to have active. (it may be hidden somewhere) For us, and many others, their notification of this is only after you have already distributed materials with the QR code they control. No amount of features are worth supporting this company.PositiveWhile some of their services sound good, and it was nice to see how many people used the QR code they created. But, the way they operate is actually extortion.
NegativeThe Non-Profit company I volunteer for is yet another victim of their scam. They hide the true cost of their "free" QR code, and then they try to extort a monthly payment after you have distributed material that uses the QR code. Failure to pay results in a deactivated QR code.

We had to submit to their extortion for a month, to keep the flyers we already distributed working for that time. Now I am also considering if we should get a different credit card, to avoid them using it fraudulently for other purposes. The is good reason to not trust them with this information. -

$120 for 1 QR Code.
Date: Mar 18 2025SummaryBeware of this company. They make it weird to cancel, as well. You have to select an option to continue your "subscription", which you never agreed to before getting to a place where you can cancel.
PositiveSomehow, I wound up paying $102.00 to use 1 free qr code. The upcharge was for multiple uses. How can they charge the $2 and then charge me for a subscription? This is about a sketchy as it comes. If you are going to sign me up for a subscription, don't upcharge me for something I will already be paying for. They are scammers.
I cannot locate 1 single email confirmation nor receipt in my email. Not 1 notification that they were charging my card.NegativeThey are criminals and charged me without any notification at all.

This company is a fraud
Date: Feb 20 2025SummaryThis company is a fraud. They do not make it clear on their website that the "free" QR code you generate with them will only work during a trial period. After that time, you get a message saying "Paused: You need to choose a plan to reactivate this QR code." And they you are supposed to fork over $35 per MONTH. Unfortunately, I used the QR code on printed flyers which are now useless. Several attempts to contact customer service via email asking for a solution received no answer. In the end, I had to reprint the flyers using a different QR code. Save yourself the headache and stay away from this company!
PositiveEasy to use. You can set colors, design, background, etc. But that is about it. Nothing else to recommend. See the big drawbacks below.
NegativeIt is NOT free! They do not make it clear on their website that the "free" QR code you generate with them will only work during a trial period.

Scam
Date: Oct 08 2025SummaryI feel very stupid for falling for this malicious practice. There really is nothing positive for being ripped off at €35 PER MONTH. With my printed material it means I have to spend €140 on this company while they promised my QR code was free
PositiveI would love to mention any pros but I feel so scammed by this company and their obvious malicious intent that it outweighs any positives
NegativeA QR generator is generally used on printed material.

So they give you one week to make sure your material is printed and then they deactivate your QR code, forcing you to pay for a long period -

Don't be held Captive by QR.io
Date: Aug 18 2025SummaryVery deceptive Company!
If using QR.IO, or thinking about using them, run, run, run! Make a static QR Code that has link built in to your own website.
If their QR is on a sign, print the corrected one on vinyl and stick over the old QR.
If their QR is on a business card, just black it out.
If used online as a pic, just substitute the corrected one.
Never would I trust my QR to be at their mercy. Every customer click now passes first through their controlled website prior to being directed to your site.
Run, run, run!PositiveEasy sign up. Easy deactivation of Free QR Code, after you have spent money on printed material. Bait and switch!

QR.io is a total scam ... don't go there
Date: Mar 23 2025SummaryI was suckered by this total scam. You create what they call "free" QR codes and about the time you get them printed up in your literature, they disable the codes and demand a high subscription price to re-enable them.
PositiveWhat they advertised (free QR codes) sounded good. It was relatively easy to create them. But using them was another matter.
NegativeThe "free" QR codes you create expire after a short period of time (just long enough for you to print them up in your promotional literature) and they demand a high "subscription" price (which you aren't told up front) to make them work again.

Fraud
Date: Nov 02 2024SummaryAwful!! As I said before it's a scam to get your cc number and keep you charging for something you didn't ask for.
PositiveThere's Nothing good about this company! It's a scam! Stay away from them if you don't want to loose your time and money.
NegativeIt's a fraud!! My team have generated 2 QR Codes in July/August because they make it look like it's free. Then realized it wasn't, but the QR Codes were printed and we needed a few days to sort it out. We had to buy 2 different plans, with the promise that we could cancel up to 7 days. We did it. They charged this 2 accounts and invented another 3rd account to charge for. They said the 2 accounts were canceled, but are still charging us for a 3rd account, and haven't refunded anything! Take care and stay away from them. I'll have to cancel my cc because of them!

Business practice built on tricking users!!!!!!
Date: Aug 13 2024SummaryAn absolutely despicable business which makes money by tricking it's users.
QR.io does not mention anywhere during the creation of QR codes that it's only valid for a certain amount of time. The company tricks you into thinking it's free so you create the QR code, and then create hundreds or thousands of business cards, or in my case, wedding invitations, which are then rendered useless a couple weeks later when the QR code is deactivated unless you pay a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION OF $35!!!
Are you kidding me??? Now my guests can't RSVP unless I pay a monthly subscription!
I'm now stuck having a stack of useless wedding invitations, that have already been sent out to guests, unless I pay $35 a month, which was never stated to me during the creation of the QR codes.
This is absolutely absurd and this business needs to either make some changes in their practices or be shut down. This is unbelievably deceptive and there is no way this is legal.PositivePretty QR Codes. That's it.

NegativeForce you to pay $35 even for a single QR code

Does not indicate clearly the difference between static and dynamic QR codes and by default creates a dynamic code which redirects though their domain. To keep this one active, you need to pay after 7 days

I dont usually get caught but it cost me!
Updated: Nov 13 2023SummaryThe worst thing is your CUSTOMERS who click on the QR code get shown that in order to use the QR code it will cost $35 - they actually give them the link to the subscription payment. How about that!!!!!!
So your own customers who you are trying to market to think you are a complete ******* trying to bill them to use the QR code.
Do not fall for these criminals! They are complete rip off merchants, they clearly don't even care about their product or how its viewed by customers, given the many negative reviews I've now read.Positivenone, and I mean absolutely no pros to using this software. Yes you can create and download the QR code easily enough, they made it so quick that you don't even notice anywhere that after 7 days you are going to be well and truly shafted!
NegativeI needed some QR codes for some Artwork I prepared, not realising the "Free" QR Code wasn't free. over £100 of leaflets wasted as although the QR code initially worked fine, by the time I received the leaflets the 7 days trial was up and as soon as you click on the QR code, you get sent to a paywall that asks you for $35 MONTHLY subscription. I had to pay for the first month since my store was opening and I needed the codes, but what a rip off! It was flat out extortion!
