What is Telnyx?
Telnyx is a global communications infrastructure platform that combines telecom networking, programmable communications, AI inference, and autonomous agent orchestration into a unified real-time communication ecosystem. The platform is designed to help businesses build, deploy, and manage AI-powered voice and messaging systems using infrastructure that spans the entire communication stack from carrier-grade networking to AI execution layers. Telnyx differentiates itself by owning and operating its full telecom stack, including physical network interconnects, private global communication fabric, edge media processing, mobile core systems, programmable identity layers, and colocated GPU infrastructure for real-time AI inference. This vertically integrated architecture enables low-latency voice AI, real-time conversational agents, and autonomous communication workflows without relying on fragmented third-party infrastructure or public internet routing. Telnyx provides developers and enterprises with programmable APIs and tools including voice agent builders, speech-to-text systems, text-to-speech engines, AI-native orchestration layers, global phone numbers, messaging services, and real-time communication runtimes optimized for intelligent AI agents. The platform also supports advanced compliance and identity management features such as 10DLC, KYC enforcement, programmable identity verification, and network-level authentication designed to reduce fraud, spoofing, and deepfake risks. Telnyx’s AI infrastructure includes support for multiple advanced AI models and enables organizations to configure agent runtimes with customizable inference systems, voice technologies, storage layers, and autonomous orchestration capabilities.

Great solution for automating SMS messaging
Date: May 30 2021SummaryTried Telnyx for a toy app during a hackathon and was really pleased by how well documented the messaging api is.
PositiveBefore I found out about Telnyx I was trying Twilio, so it was really great that the Telnyx Twexit API is mostly compatible with codebases written for use with Twilio. The pricing isn't bad either.
NegativeCould be a pro depending on your perspective, but I wish Telnyx didn't go for the super personalized onboarding approach - as an introvert, I hesitated when I couldn't just spin up the docs and try it out via trial and error (you have to set up a call with telnyx engineers).

Excellent sip trunk provider
Date: May 07 2021SummaryService has been for the most part set it and forget it. Support is sometimes slow to respond but responses are usually good.
PositivePrices are excellent and service offerings are fairly complete. Setup is easy and there are great tutorials for many systems.
NegativeThere are some things missing like a fully functional SMS client. Need to use a 3rd party client or build own with the API.

Perfect for SMB IVRs
Date: Feb 02 2021SummaryTelnyx makes it super simple from start to finish. Going into this I never thought it was actually going to be that easy for me, but it literally only took me a couple hours to get everything setup, tested, and running. I’m more than excited that my Office Manager has a solid hour of time daily where she’s not routing calls the old fashioned way. Wish I would have discovered Telnyx sooner.
PositiveSetting up an IVR was easy even for me (not very technical).
Was able to use my existing number.
Their user-interface looks awesome and is simple to use.NegativeI ran into a few problems, but their documentation had the exact guide to help me through.

Solid Carrier, with Very Nice Extra Features
Updated: Apr 30 2021SummaryI have used Telnyx as one of my primary VoIP carriers for a good while now. I haven't had any issues of note. The service has been reliable. The minute prices are very good, especially outbound. Really, I have no notable complaints. I have contacted their support a few times for issues that usually ended up being on my end. I usually contacted support via the chat function and it was always handled reasonably quickly (and sometimes very quickly, within only a few minutes). I have recommended Telnyx to MANY people, and I have signed up several of my clients with their own accounts. All the people that I know of that have gone with Telnyx on my recommendation have been happy.
I have used Telnyx with Kazoo, Freeswitch, SipWise C5, Asterisk, and with single phones. Connection setup has never been an issue at all.
Although I use several carriers for various reasons, overall, I have no reservations about highly recommending Telnyx for nearly any VoIP use case, and see no reason why I will not be their customer for the forseeable future. :-)PositiveMultiple codec choices, including Opus. This is a big plus. Transport choices of UDP/TCP/TLS --- another big plus. SRTP support. Easy CNAM storage. Good SMS/MMS support with a very nice and thorough API. Good documentation. Good portal. Excellent call quality.
NegativeFew minor irritating things about the portal; nothing major (can't change certain settings on a connection profile if a DID is using it, etc.) DID prices could be better, and there are extra MRCs for things like enabling SMS support and such on a DID.
