Too expensive for what it currently offers
Date: Aug 05 2026SummarycPanel remains functional and familiar, but in my experience the current price is not justified by the interface, built-in capabilities and overall value. The product needs faster modernization, clearer navigation, stronger native security tools and better backup functionality. Considering the recurring licensing cost and the recent security incident, I would now seriously evaluate more affordable alternatives.
PositivecPanel provides a broad set of tools for managing websites, domains, email accounts, databases and server settings in one place. It is widely supported by hosting providers, and experienced users may appreciate the large ecosystem, documentation and integrations available around the product.
NegativeThe price is my main issue. The licensing cost feels too high compared with the value and improvements I receive. The 2026 direct pricing starts at $29.99 per month for one account and reaches $69.99 per month for Premier, with an additional per-account fee above 100 accounts. This makes the product increasingly difficult to justify, especially for smaller projects or servers with several accounts.

The interface also feels dated and overloaded in some areas. Navigation is not always intuitive, and basic tasks can require moving through too many sections. cPanel’s own user survey shows repeated requests for UI modernization, better mobile responsiveness, improved backup management and a native firewall.
I was also concerned by the recent critical authentication vulnerability. According to cPanel, it could allow an unauthenticated request to be treated as authenticated, while government security authorities confirmed active exploitation and possible remote code execution. Although patches were released, an incident of this scale reduced my confidence in the product.
