What is eve?
Eve is an innovative open-source framework designed for the development of AI agents under your complete control, organized around a file system and featuring a production-ready runtime environment. Creating an agent is as simple as writing an instructions.md file, and as the agent matures, developers can seamlessly integrate additional elements such as model configurations, skills, tools, sandboxes, channels, connections, subagents, schedules, and evaluations. Establishing tools is straightforward, achieved by placing TypeScript files in the specified tools directory, while skills are crafted as Markdown playbooks that are triggered only when required. These agents are capable of connecting with various platforms, including GitHub, Stripe, and Linear, through secure authenticated channels, and they communicate via multiple interfaces such as Slack, Discord, Teams, web chats, APIs, cron jobs, command-line interfaces, and custom applications—all derived from the same codebase. Additionally, specialized subagents can efficiently handle delegated tasks, employing their distinct prompts, tools, and sandboxes, which significantly enhances the agent’s overall functionality and adaptability. This remarkable flexibility empowers developers to tailor their AI solutions to accommodate a diverse array of applications and scenarios, ensuring that the technology can meet evolving needs and challenges. Furthermore, the framework's user-friendly design demystifies the complexities of AI development, making it accessible for both seasoned programmers and newcomers alike.
