What is DroidAR?

DroidAR is a flexible framework crafted for creating Augmented Reality applications specifically on Android devices. It accommodates both marker-based and location-based AR experiences, making it suitable for a diverse range of applications. Users have the opportunity to try out a variety of demo applications that highlight its features (see the videos below). For the latest updates regarding DroidAR, please check our blog. The framework can be downloaded for free under the GNU GPL v3 license from our GitHub repository, with a commercial licensing option also available for those interested. Since its initial launch as an augmented reality development tool in 2010, DroidAR has seen ongoing improvements and the introduction of new features. This software development kit (SDK) empowers developers to effortlessly incorporate augmented reality capabilities into their own applications. We provide the SDK at no charge for non-commercial endeavors under an Open Source License. Over the years, it has established itself as one of the most widely used open-source augmented reality SDKs designed for the Android ecosystem, demonstrating its extensive popularity within the developer community. Additionally, the ongoing support and community contributions further enhance its robustness and feature set, ensuring that it remains relevant in the evolving landscape of augmented reality technology.

What is AR Composer?

Reality Composer is a user-friendly platform designed for individuals to create interactive augmented reality experiences without any prior 3D design knowledge. In addition to this, Reality Converter allows users to convert their existing 3D models into USDZ format, making them compatible with our array of tools and accessible on all AR-capable iPhones and iPads. Designed for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, Reality Composer streamlines the process of constructing, testing, improving, and simulating AR experiences specifically for iPhone or iPad. One of its standout features, live linking, enables seamless connectivity between Mac and iPhone or iPad, which aids in the development of remarkable AR experiences that can subsequently be exported to AR Quick Look or integrated into applications through Xcode. Users have the option to either import their own USDZ files or take advantage of the extensive range of pre-made virtual objects offered in the built-in AR library. This library uses procedural content generation to present a variety of assets, allowing for the customization of different attributes such as size and style of virtual objects, significantly broadening creative opportunities. Moreover, Reality Composer encourages creators, regardless of their experience level, to delve into the captivating realm of augmented reality and experiment with its innovative tools. Thus, it serves as an accessible entry point for anyone eager to engage with cutting-edge AR technology.
