What is Hissa?

Hissa is an Indian company focused on the full equity and ESOP lifecycle, serving private, public unlisted, and listed businesses. Founders, finance teams, HR, employees, and investors all work from one shared record of equity, covering everything from designing a plan to granting, vesting, exercising, and providing liquidity. On the software side, Hissa handles grant issuance and vesting runs, and maintains an always-current cap table that covers ordinary shares, preference shares, convertibles, ESOPs, SARs, ESPPs, RSUs, and phantom equity. Before exercising, employees can check their own grants, vesting schedule, fair value, and perquisite tax. Finance teams receive Ind AS 102/iGAAP expense figures, including Black-Scholes valuations, so no one has to rebuild a spreadsheet every quarter. Investors get a separate portal showing their ownership and dilution. Compensation modelling helps benchmark equity grants. Hissa is not a cash-compensation or HRIS product. Liquidity is offered alongside administration, rather than replacing it. The Hissa Fund is a SEBI-registered Category II alternative investment fund with a target corpus of $35 million. It purchases vested employee shares in growth-stage Indian private companies at a value approved by the board, and holds them until the company exits. Employees receive payment within T+5 business days. As the company runs no buyback, the purchase stays off its balance sheet. Hissa runs in the browser, with no iOS or Android app. Startups with fewer than 25 employees pay $15 per user per year, plus a $250 onboarding fee. Larger and listed companies receive a quote on request. Demos are available, though there is no free trial.

What is Equical?

Equical is an innovative equity management platform that leverages business intelligence tailored for startups facing the unique challenges of emerging markets, specifically in Africa including Nigeria, and extending to regions like Latin America, Southeast Asia, and India. This platform effectively tackles the specific hurdles typical in these areas, such as managing transactions in multiple currencies, complying with local regulations like those set by the Nigerian SEC, Brazilian CVM, and Indian SEBI, and addressing the inadequacies of traditional US-centric solutions such as Carta and Pulley, which can often be unsuitable or excessively costly. By providing modern and automated tools, Equical simplifies the management of ownership structures, removing the disarray of spreadsheets, tedious manual calculations, and compliance headaches. Its mission is centered on fostering fairness, transparency, and delivering real-time insights into equity distribution and tracking. Among its standout features are AI-enhanced cap tables that allow for automatic updates and precise dilution modeling, enabling users to evaluate different funding scenarios, such as determining the effects of raising $2 million at a $15 million pre-money valuation. Equical's dedication to understanding the particular requirements of startups in these vibrant markets empowers entrepreneurs to make well-informed decisions regarding their equity management. Consequently, it not only supports their growth but also enhances their overall operational efficiency.
