What is LightCalc?

Mastering the art of lighting can prove to be quite difficult, and even with a solid understanding, implementing successful lighting strategies often remains a cumbersome undertaking. Many professionals, including interior designers, architects, and specialists in kitchen and bath design, strive to handle their lighting designs on their own, but they frequently find themselves lacking the crucial technical skills and sufficient time needed for detailed calculations. To tackle these obstacles, LightCalc was created as an effective solution. This cutting-edge tool eliminates the need for extensive mathematical expertise! It leverages straightforward information provided by designers, such as room dimensions, counter height, ceiling height, and color palettes. After this data is entered, LightCalc quickly determines the appropriate footcandle levels and fixture spacing, while also suggesting a layout for the ceiling-mounted lighting fixtures. Designers will find the point-and-click interface to be intuitive, and the visual representations will showcase how the lighting design will influence the overall space. This accessible software enables designers to effortlessly craft customized lighting solutions, instilling both ease and confidence in their work, thus enhancing the overall design process. Ultimately, LightCalc serves as a valuable resource for those looking to elevate their lighting game without the stress of complicated calculations.

What is LMX?

LMX is a Windows application tailored for the programming and management of stage lighting, featuring a distinctive combination of graphical and command-line interfaces. It includes functionalities such as tracked cue lists, palettes, presets, effects, and a built-in 3D visualizer that enhances user control over lighting setups. The software is compatible with multiple output protocols like Art-Net, sACN (E1.31), and FT232R USB-DMX, making it adaptable to various lighting configurations. Users can efficiently set up their rigs with GDTF import options and a specialized fixture editor, while interactive playback is simplified through MIDI mapping and browser remote capabilities. Additionally, it supports multi-track audio, providing users with the ability to effectively manage and control waveform playback. Registered beta users benefit from a free beta license, but the Microsoft Store notes that those without a license are limited to using six fixtures in Demo Mode. After the beta period concludes, the expected Pro pricing will be £299 for a one-time purchase or £19 per month, although these fees may change. Moreover, LMX's adaptability and comprehensive feature set make it a highly attractive option for lighting designers at all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals. Its user-friendly interface and advanced tools promise to streamline the lighting design process significantly.
