What is OpenShare?

OpenShare serves as a healthcare data gateway that integrates as a plugin on existing Mirth Connect or Open Integration Engine (OIE) servers, enriching their functionality with a web-based Console for managing and developing channels, Monitoring for evaluating channel performance and alerts, and a secure Gateway for outbound-only remote access. The Exchange layer enables organizations to connect directly by offering a Contact Directory, tailored sharing agreements, and secure, end-to-end encrypted transfers of HL7, FHIR, and DICOM data—this includes the transfer of comprehensive imaging studies straight from one engine to another without using cloud storage or incurring charges per study. Additionally, there is an optional dashboard that presents only metadata without any PHI, thereby ensuring user privacy. Users have the freedom to operate the Console, Gateway, Monitoring, and DICOM viewer on their own servers, promoting flexibility and control. The inter-organizational exchange functions on a network membership model, with a monthly fee of $500 per server that allows for 2.5 GB of data transfer, while any extra data will incur a charge of $0.25 per GB; however, connecting organizations can join at no cost. Presently in open beta, the membership sales have not yet launched, indicating a promising future for broader accessibility. Developed by Saga IT, this groundbreaking solution aspires to revolutionize the way healthcare data is shared across various organizations.

What is OmniDICOM?

OmniDICOM is a multifunctional desktop application designed for DICOM viewing and metadata editing, catering to educational and research needs on both Mac and Windows operating systems. Users have the ability to access local studies, compare series, take measurements, and watch cine sequences, while also inspecting or modifying DICOM tag information. The app is equipped with sophisticated viewing features such as multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), 3D volume rendering, and digital subtraction angiography (DSA). In addition, it offers PACS and DICOMweb capabilities that enhance study transfers, along with diverse export options for images, videos, DICOM files, and STL models. The Professional version includes a processing bench that comes with a variety of stacked filters and analytical instruments like histograms, profiles, and time-intensity curves. Users can try the Professional edition for 14 days at no cost, although it has export limitations, and to unlock full access, a paid license is required. The Basic subscription is priced at $10 monthly or $99 yearly per machine, whereas the Professional plan costs $45 per month or $449 annually. It’s crucial to recognize that OmniDICOM is not intended to be a medical device and should not be used for any diagnostic or clinical decision-making, reinforcing its position as a valuable resource for research and educational purposes. Therefore, users must be mindful of the software's intended use and its limitations to maximize its benefits.
