What is PowerMill?

Fusion 360, in conjunction with PowerMill® CAM software, provides sophisticated CNC programming solutions that cater to complex 3- and 5-axis manufacturing processes. Users now enjoy improved access to Fusion 360, enhanced collaborative features through Fusion 360 Team, and a diverse array of advanced manufacturing tools made available via Fusion 360 extensions. PowerMill features a comprehensive library of programming strategies that optimize CNC workflows, significantly reducing programming durations through rapid toolpath calculations. Furthermore, users can effectively simulate, verify, and refine the operations of CNC machines and industrial robots. With Fusion 360, individuals are equipped with an array of tools for 3D modeling, generative design, simulation, and electronics, promoting better collaboration and innovation among teams. The software also includes specialized modeling tools that streamline the preparation of intricate geometries, ultimately leading to enhanced CAM programming results. Additionally, the simulation capabilities play a crucial role in refining the designs of plastic components and improving the mold tools required for their fabrication. A notable manufacturer based in the United States utilizes a combination of Autodesk Moldflow, PowerMill, and PowerShape to create high-quality injection molds, showcasing the effective use of these integrated technologies in achieving superior manufacturing outcomes. This synergy not only enhances operational efficiency but also significantly improves the overall quality of the products produced. As a result, companies can expect to see increased productivity and a more streamlined workflow in their manufacturing processes.

What is CadVex?

CadVex is CNC quoting and manufacturing estimating software that helps machine shops convert STEP files and engineering drawings into detailed, editable cost estimates. The software analyzes 3D part geometry to detect manufacturable features, production operations, and assumptions that affect the expected cost of producing a component. Its cost analysis breaks estimates into factors such as starting material and stock, material quantity, scrap assumptions, setup, programming, machining operations, finishing, marking, inspection, and outside processes. Detected holes, pockets, grooves, faces, and other manufacturing features can be associated with machining time and cost within the estimate. Users can adjust their own shop rates, batch sizes, cycle assumptions, quantity-sensitive production economics, margins, and other commercial inputs rather than relying on a fixed automated price. CadVex includes DFM functionality that attaches manufacturability warnings to the relevant geometry and provides manufacturing impact information and suggested changes for review. After reviewing the manufacturing estimate and DFM findings, estimators can create customer-ready quotes using their own company letterhead. Quote intelligence tracks each quote through draft, sent, won, and lost stages while providing statistics for open pipeline, won value, win-rate trends, and customer performance. CadVex Desktop runs on Windows and Apple Silicon Macs, performs analysis locally so CAD files remain on the user's machine, supports unlimited analysis, and can operate offline after activation with occasional internet access for licensing and updates. CadVex Cloud uses the same interface and produces the same estimates but performs analysis in CadVex Cloud, requires no local installation, and uses a usage-based model.
