What is QuickMove?

Every download, scan and export that lands in the wrong folder costs a drag and drop. QuickMove replaces that with a right-click: pick QuickMove and the file goes to the folder that kind of file always goes to. Rules are made once, in the Rule Wizard, by file name, extension or a pattern (regular expressions allowed), and applied silently ever after; a file no rule covers gets a list of your favourite folders instead. A move history with multi-step undo means nothing is lost. From the context menu you can override or edit a rule, route files into sub-folders by name, and have an existing file in the target renamed instead of overwritten. Add the Automation plugin (US$24.99) and QuickMove watches folders like Downloads and applies the rules by itself. Windows 11 first-page context menu. A single US$29.99 licence, paid once, with free minor updates; free edition and a 7-day trial. Windows 7 SP1 to 11 and Windows Server 2012 R2 and above. Email support within 24 hours.

What is DeskSentry?

DeskSentry is an automation tool for Windows that monitors specific areas of the screen through local optical character recognition (OCR) and triggers predefined actions upon detecting certain text or events. This adaptable software can respond to a variety of stimuli, such as modifications on the screen, updates to files and folders, clipboard changes, active applications, log file modifications, hotkey presses, and scheduled tasks. Its range of actions includes sending notifications to platforms like Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, or through email, as well as posting updates via webhooks, launching applications, simulating keyboard inputs, managing dialog controls, and inserting data into SQL databases. The rules governing these actions can incorporate parameters sourced from triggers, including recognized text or file names. Additionally, DeskSentry keeps a record of rule activities and takes local screenshots while storing all rules and settings directly on the Windows system. Importantly, it operates without the need for user accounts and does not rely on telemetry or cloud services for rule execution, with server interaction limited solely to license verification. This application is particularly beneficial for administrators, quality assurance professionals, and laboratory personnel who are tasked with automating or overseeing Windows applications that lack suitable APIs, thereby significantly improving productivity and workflow efficiency. Furthermore, DeskSentry's user-friendly interface allows for straightforward setup and customization, making it an ideal choice for teams looking to streamline their processes.
