What is Relay Tripping Curves PRO2?

Relay Tripping Curves PRO2 (RTC2) is a specialized Windows application crafted by protection engineers for their colleagues in the field. It allows users to create trip curves for relays, circuit breakers, and transformers on a log-log graph, which helps ensure that the selectivity between various devices is confirmed and generates detailed technical reports essential for engineering tasks. While field testing equipment can provide data, they often lack the ability to relate these readings to the main system, visualize the curves, or confirm that settings are in coordination, a void that RTC2 successfully fills. Noteworthy features include compatibility with seven relay manufacturers, mirroring the original display and terminology, ten types of circuit breaker trip units that cover L/S/I/G zones, and a transformer damage curve that adheres to ANSI/IEEE C57.109-2018 standards. The software also offers functionalities for analyzing inrush and short-circuit currents, performing ΔT selectivity calculations among devices, and generating PDF reports that include primary-equivalent current, curve equations, plots, and signatures. Additionally, it is completely bilingual, supporting both English and Spanish, and functions entirely offline. Users have the opportunity to try a free DEMO version with no time limitations, while the paid versions provide a perpetual license for a one-time fee, making it accessible for engineers with varying needs. This combination of features and flexibility ensures that RTC2 remains an invaluable tool for professionals in the field.

What is CircuitSim?

CircuitSim is an extensive SPICE circuit simulation platform that boasts a collection of more than 3,000 components alongside a modern schematic editor, all available online for free without any installation requirements. It is tailored for students, teachers, and professionals, functioning directly within a web browser, which allows it to be used seamlessly on devices like Chromebooks and school-issued laptops that may have restricted access. Users can engage in seven different analysis types, encompassing both interactive and transient analyses, with results visualized on oscilloscope-style graphs, and they have the option to place probes throughout the circuit for detailed observation. The platform also enables the creation of custom components from SPICE model text and the import of symbols from KiCad, greatly enhancing the simulation experience and versatility. CircuitSim further facilitates the importation of designs from Multisim Live prior to its planned discontinuation on September 15, 2026, making it a distinctive browser-based alternative capable of handling .csim, .ms14, and .msjs files while maintaining wiring, component arrangement, net labels, probes, and simulation settings intact. Additionally, there are classroom licensing options that introduce features like seat assignments, anonymous student seating arrangements, and dedicated private project spaces for students, which significantly enriches the learning environment. This comprehensive approach ensures that educators have the tools necessary to effectively oversee their classrooms while taking full advantage of sophisticated simulation technologies.
