What is School Attendance?

The Office of School Support team is committed to improving school attendance throughout the district. When students are absent from class, it hinders their ability to stay prepared and engaged in their learning experiences. There is a strong correlation between higher attendance rates and enhanced academic success, as well as better graduation outcomes. This attendance team works closely with schools, families, students, and partners from Ramsey County to address attendance issues as soon as they arise. It is essential for parents or guardians to notify the school whenever their child is absent since not every absence will qualify as excused. To report an absence, parents must either contact the main office or provide a written note that clearly explains the reason for the absence. The attendance support process within SPPS unfolds in three stages, escalating in seriousness if a student continues to have unexcused absences. If a student reaches three unexcused absences, a notification letter is sent home to inform parents. If the student continues to miss school without a valid excuse, the school will begin the intervention process, which highlights the importance of regular attendance and the collaborative efforts required to support each student's educational path. Ultimately, fostering a strong partnership between the school and families is key to ensuring students remain engaged and succeed academically.

What is Bid Control?

Bid Control is a specialized service aimed at helping contractors locate and prepare for public bidding opportunities across a variety of agencies, such as cities, counties, and school districts. It monitors over 3,800 public entities and more than 540 bid platforms, processing around 190,000 bid pages every month. The service categorizes opportunities by trade and service area, providing vital information including contract values, submission deadlines, required forms, site visit details, and other pertinent bid information. Users can also set up bid alerts, gain access to initial insights from agency meetings and budget talks, review past award data, and keep track of any changes to bid dates or documentation. The Bid Builder feature optimizes the bid preparation process by automatically populating forms with the contractor's business information, while the Bid Team assists with planning and managing the associated paperwork. Contractors can easily browse available opportunities and manage their bid workflows across smartphones, tablets, or computers. New users are allowed to submit three job applications free of charge and without the need for credit card details, enabling them to evaluate the service's effectiveness firsthand. This all-encompassing approach guarantees that contractors are thoroughly prepared to handle the bidding process with confidence and efficiency, ultimately leading to increased chances of success in winning contracts.
