What is WebMCP?

WebMCP is an open-source JavaScript library that simplifies the incorporation of the Model Context Protocol into any website, enabling users to interact with web pages through an AI agent or language model. Developers can easily add WebMCP to their sites with a simple script, which activates a small widget that facilitates communication between the webpage and an MCP client. Once this connection is made, websites can leverage a range of MCP features, including tools, prompts, resources, and sampling capabilities. Tools allow an LLM to perform specific actions on the website by utilizing predefined functions that dictate their inputs and outputs. Prompts are designed as reusable templates for common LLM interactions, which can include dynamic arguments to enhance functionality. Resources grant access to webpage data and content that clients can use for contextual engagement, covering everything from page text to specific elements, files, and other organized information. Furthermore, WebMCP supports sampling, enabling the server to request LLM completions via the connected client while ensuring that human oversight is maintained throughout the interaction. This array of features not only enhances the interactivity of web applications but also enriches the overall user experience by making it more responsive and engaging. Ultimately, developers can create innovative solutions that utilize AI in a user-friendly manner.

What is Persona?

Persona is a VanillaJS Agent UI Library that allows developers to create engaging front-end experiences using only pure JavaScript. This library is designed to be lightweight and highly extensible, ensuring it is natively compatible with WebMCP and can work with any technology stack while easily connecting to various SSE backends. Developers can choose from several configurations, such as a floating launcher in the corner, a copilot docked beside an application, or a full-height assistant that occupies the entire page, all while being able to modify the launcher setup without impacting the agent or the application itself. The versatility of this library supports a wide array of use cases, including customer support, documentation, sales, onboarding processes, internal tools, and personalized agent interactions, effectively turning the chat interface into an additional layer of functionality for the application. Through the use of WebMCP, developers are able to enable direct interactions with page actions, search features, shopping carts, bookings, forms, and various other tools directly within the browser using a document.modelContext. Persona adeptly recognizes these tools, asks for user confirmation before executing actions, and promptly streams the results back into the ongoing conversation. This seamless integration not only enhances user engagement but also ensures that interactions remain intuitive and contextually appropriate, ultimately contributing to a more efficient and satisfying user experience. By prioritizing ease of use and adaptability, Persona stands out as an essential tool for developers aiming to enrich their applications.
