    Great Monitoring Solution

    Date: May 31 2020
    Summary

PagerDuty provides a smooth management platform to alert any problems very fast and efficiently. It offers an easy interface to configure your options and setup policies. Once everything is up and running it provides powerful monitoring and communication options to fix any problems very quick that will not interfere with business operations.

    Positive

PagerDuty has helped manage our systems and report any incidents very quickly to the appropriate team so that everything gets resolved fast and in an organized way. What is very good about the software is that you can setup several policies so that if any hardware or network goes down the person in charge is immediately contacted. It has a very smooth approach with easy configuration options and setup. Also features a mobile application to receive alerts which is a perfect solution.

    Negative

Overall everything runs very smooth, there are times of delayed notifications on the Android app. There also has been a price increase lately in the annual plan.

    Simplifying support

    Date: May 25 2020
    Summary

Overall very pleased with the experience. I have not tried many support apps but this seems to get the work done brilliantly. If the app could be fixed and some minor issues resolved, this might be the de-facto app for support

    Positive

The best thing about this software is the ability to get a notification on SMS/calls/email - if you have a device you will be notified. It also has integrations with Grafana and Airflow which will help you immensely in case people on support needs to be notified. Also, the fact that the person on support can be changed in just a couple of clicks is awesome in situations where you have last-minute drops

    Negative

The app is a bit clunky at least on Android. There is no way to link two issues due to which the same issue would be notified again and again

Works flawlessly...if you set your alerting thresholds correctly

    Date: Aug 21 2020
    Summary

Make sure your alerting thresholds are neither too sensitive nor too ... whatever the opposite is. PagerDuty will alert your team members whenever any condition you specify has been met, so just make sure that those are set wisely to avoid making on-call engineers on your team unhappy.

    Positive

So, during busy release cycles, you really gotta stay on your toes just in case that new feature you shipped broke some functionality unexpectedly. And this could totally happen even in the middle of the night, when you normally wouldn't be checking your emails. PagerDuty bypasses that and calls you up. And if you aren't awake, it'll call the next in line and so on, so the issue gets resolved.

    Negative

Man, can you imagine? Getting woken up for a false alert? Yeah, no one likes that. Not really PagerDuty's fault there, but it does get annoying.
