Overall for our particular use case QBO couldn’t be a better fit for what we need. For larger nonprofits, however, it likely won’t be enough!

We use QBO to manage the finances of an affiliated and smaller nonprofit, and QBO makes it super easy. Their TechSoup deal at only $75/annually makes it super affordable as well.

Inability to use technology to allocate costs to different departments by percentage allocations is a limiting factor in how helpful QBO can be for nonprofits.

Overall Quickbooks does exactly what I need it to do. It allows us to track our spending and provide accurate information to our members. Being able to integrate with other software makes it one of the best options.

It is a great accounting platform. It is easy to use and allows tracking of accounts. We have it setup to track by location and that is a great resource to determine how each location is doing. Banking integration is great and probably one of its best features. It also provides integration with a lot of other software that we use which makes data entry much easier.

Sometimes the software will have sync issues and it can take time to fix and troubleshoot.

Quickbooks Online is the ideal software for us to keep track of all of our finances and do accounting-related work. We have been able to save money because this software is not very pricey and we have also been able to get great results because of the variety and extensiveness of its features. Quickbooks is the place where we keep all our data in regards to the financial/banking part of our business, and it has been so authentic in sorting our data and speeding up any type payments and taxes, reconciliation and business progress, as it has also the capability to give us great insight analytics about how our business is performing financially, allowing us to make better decisions about our next projects to keep boosting our performance. With this software, we have been able to achieve more with less, and our projects have a nice budgeting plan thanks to it being able to streamline all our process during every project, planning every step and customizing and creating different templates from past projects, to ensure consistency and success every single time.

Quickbooks Online provides a distinguished way to do all our accounting and budgeting for our business. It has a system that is very complete and full of smart tools that when combined, make for a hugely helpful software that carries all of my financial tasks.

-One of my favorite aspects of Quickbooks is how fast we can complete our bank reconciliation every month, providing thoughtful analysis about where our money goes and allowing us to make smart decisions regarding our finances and our business’ future. It’s very easy to prepare our reports every month and customize them to include the most information possible such as income statements and purchase orders, and choose between single-entry or double-entry systems.

-Additionally, Quickbooks has the power to organize all our taxes for us and manage all our tax data for when the tax season comes, and notify us when they’re ready. I like this area of Quickbooks and I find that it’s the most powerful feature as it lets us streamline all our tax processes and has an accurate automated system that studies our data and helps me sort our finances by quarter or yearly methods, providing a strong system that is based on security and support, saving us as much time as possible with its different tools to calculate different finances.

-Quickbooks’ customer support has been very helpful in providing the assistance that we have needed during our training period with the software, and to this day, they have been extremely responsive and have solved any question and doubt that we’ve had, making it such a wonderful service and experience for us and improving our view of the solution in general.

-Integration with many third-party applications make the experience of using Quickbooks even better, as it improves our workflow and synchronizes our data with other financial and project management tools, eliminating the process of having to manually import or export data into Quickbooks or other apps.

-Finally, I like that this software is hosted on the cloud and can access it anywhere I am and on any device, which is a huge benefit for me as I am sometimes on the go, and being able to access my business’ accounting solution is a huge deal for me. I also find that because it is hosted on the cloud, Quickbooks provides higher security levels and a low risk of lost or stolen information, and that used to be a great worry for me as no one wants their information suddenly lost/stolen, but Quickbooks maintains all our data encrypted and safe.

I feel like even though Quickbooks has amazing tools and it’s a great platform overall, it still lacks in terms of user-friendliness and user guides to help users settle in with the software and finish implementation successfully. We struggled a bit with this software because the amount of tools were so overwhelming and I felt like it didn’t provide enough tutorials for me to understand how it works, but thankfully, once we contacted the customer support and were put in contact with an expert, they were very happy to help us through every step of our implementation with Quickbooks, which was honestly amazing and it’s one of the reasons we chose to stay with Quickbooks as our main accounting solution for our business.
Also, as I appreciate the level of security and high quality encryption that Quickbooks has, I do find it a bit annoying the level of security that there is to access our finances every single time, as I am requested one-time passwords and it takes more time to access our finances, but it’s just a small dislike that is compensated with the rest of the software tools that I do enjoy using.

I really like QuickBooks, it is easy to use and efficient. Reporting is good and you can easily get comparable information from the system.

Does not integrate with some of the other applications we have which is unfortunate as we could streamline some of our processes.

Great product for the value but a little more flexibility would be nice. If the system things a transaction should be filed a certain way, it will not let you deviate.

This program is thorough with the ability to link to your bank account. This allows you to notate all bank transactions.

As a manager, I'm very happy with QBO and can't imagine a scenario where we'd switch to another provider.

I'm not an accountant and don't have a finance background, but I am responsible for overseeing our financial operations and I've found QBO to be a great tool. In my role, running reports is a key feature, and I have found this to be very intuitive and to have lots of options for customization. I also like that employees sitting in three different countries can all have easy access to our books wherever they are.

No real drawbacks that I have encountered. The only improvement that comes to mind is that it could be a bit more easy on the eyes design-wise, but that doesn't impact its functionality at all.

Overall it’s very convenient and easy to use but I have had issues with its lagging time and rare crash.

The switching from one section to another tends to lag which makes it difficult to get multiple things done on a high volume day.

QuickBooks allowed me to more easily track and manage the flow of income and expenses regarding my company's accounting. With this platform I have been able to solve the problem of bank statement conflicts since they have been able to reconcile more easily in a clearer and more automated way. The limitations I have with this platform are practically nil, only small inconveniences with the mobile version, but we would have to wait for the QuickBook team to finish transferring all the functionalities of the web version to mobile devices in order to facilitate accounting regardless of the OS .

The financial reports of my company have been very clear and concise over time, there was no more complete platform than this, my financial statement has been able to be in order and I have been able to avoid conflicts when having a review of my company, almost everything is prepared automatically and my accountant does not have to do many things since he only has to check that everything is in order since this platform generates complete reports adapted to current times that meet all tax requirements.

+ Very complete and robust interface, in addition to being very current. By this I mean that it is easy to handle within this platform as you learn to use its tools correctly. In general, platforms of this style tend to be very archaic or outdated, making it very difficult and cumbersome to understand and find the functions they offer. So for me its design is very polished that can be used by people of all ages who want to keep their company's accounts.

+ You can import the data of the movements of different banks allowing the ease of being able to keep a clear accounting by being able to have exact data of the movements of business bank accounts. This was very intuitive to me since I don't have to import the data by manually typing it one by one, but simply adapt the exported data provided by the bank and pass it to QuickBooks as if it were a database.

+ The accounting books are very complete and it speeds up the process by not having to manage everything manually within other platforms such as Excel (although with Excel some programming can be done to automate everything, it requires more training or spreadsheet experts to perform this). So with this platform it is easier to create accounting books and I have the ability to add as many fields as I need for the manual entry of income and expenses of my company, this in case there is no way to automatically integrate an accounting movement that is do within my company

+ The online support chat provides quick answers to any questions or problems you may have. I have gone through several circumstances in which I did not understand a function very well or did not know the availability of a specific function which I needed to integrate into my company's accounting. So with the help of the QuickBooks live chat I was able to solve these and more doubts that I had in the course of using this platform since it is difficult to fully understand how to use it.

+ You can create presentations in any period of time, from biweekly, monthly, quarterly and annually. That is very useful since I can determine the date with a few clicks without having to do all the work manually and in parts, but everything is done automatically just by choosing the desired term.

- The mobile application regardless of the OS has limitations which prevents seeing certain things and also limits the ability to add certain things when keeping accounts. It looks like a statement summary which can not do much. For me, practicality is very important and I like that the platforms that I use can be managed both via desktop, web and mobile application without any limits. Thus, it also allows portability by not needing to be inside the desk to be able to use QuickBooks, but with the simple fact of having a tablet or smartphone, you can already access all the functionalities of this platform.

- Employees are needed with training both in accounting, as well as in the correct handling of this platform, since mistakes can be made that are detrimental to your company. I recommend this since I had a bad experience implementing this platform within my company without adequate training and after a long and arduous testing period there were errors with the numbers which were not correct due to the lack of certain inputs and outputs of the accounting of my company. So if you want everything to be well registered, I recommend taking training courses to understand this platform well.

- I do not understand how to classify and accept transactions through various deposits, it is a bit of a mess that is formed with the records of transactions within this platform. You should be able to associate payments in parts or in different deposits in order to facilitate accounting when you are going to make payments and you want to keep track of an expense or receipt of funds within the company.

- The prices are increasing excessively since I acquired the services of this platform. I have had to reconsider the expenses of my company to be able to adjust the expenses that are made with QuickBooks, I understand that they are progressively improving, but the increase in costs rises faster in relation to the improvements that are made to this platform.

If you have a small business you need quickbooks. It integrates with everything. It makes the running of our business, filing taxes, payroll and everything else financial just work.

The pinnacle of accounting software. It does everything you need it to do. It is laid out in a very intuitive way. Reporting is super easy. It is really accessible for non-financial people. It saves so much time and gives you information that you didn't know you needed. It's a critical part of managing our business.

The biggest con is the price. For a very small business the monthly fee is very high. I wish they had some kind of tiered billing based on your size.

We are extremely happy that we switched from QuickBooks desktop to QuickBooks Online. The easy access to customer service or having our accountant jump on to assist is a great thing!

We love using QuickBooks Online because it is so much easier to connect with our accountant when needed. QBO is also very user friendly and top notch!

The customer service is not always the best. They are never rude, but there has been a few times where we were told how to do something and it was not necessarily they best way the fix the circumstance.

QuickBooks is a very good option to keep in order all the financial and accounting duties of small and medium businesses, it covers almost all areas in its scope, from invoicing to bank reconciliation, but not for more complete tasks such as keeping accounts payable and receivable,

For accounting processes this is an excellent opportunity to do so, we have found many of its tools very useful for accounting operations such as bank reconciliations, payroll management and invoicing. But the most impressive is the way it allows us to manage purchase orders for our suppliers.

One of the most important functions within a company that receives and sells products or services is to keep track of accounts receivable and payable. Unfortunately QuickBooks does not provide any complement to process tasks of this financial nature. On the other hand, there are performance problems when doing online invoicing.

For most smaller businesses, this product is great. My biggest issue is that it's pretty expensive compared to competitors for the features it has. It also lacks in inventory features if that's something that your company utilizes at all.

We were recommended to try Quickbooks Online Essentials by our accountant and it has made our life much easier keeping the books.

Since we moved from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online, we have found that categorizing transactions has become much easier and faster. We also love the bill pay feature.

The only con I can think of is that we didn't try it sooner.

Overall, Quickbooks has a good product, and the customer service team is decent for easy questions. But the customer service team could use some help for more complicated questions, as well as being more honest about what features they offer.

Quickbooks online is a very sophisticated bookkeeping platform. It has so many options, in the 10 years I have worked with it, there have been very few things we needed to do that it couldn't do. I do also like that you can call the company when you have questions and they will walk you through it. However, I think they are trying to do away with this feature.

My biggest complaint with the company is not with the everyday usability, but more so with the customer service team, and one specific feature that was advertised, but actually didn't work. The customer service team is great for easy questions, but if its something a little more complicated, you may have to call 2-4 times to find a resolution. And it may take hours to get to someone that will listen and try to solve it. This has happened quite a few times where the customer service member will just hang up because they don't want to work on the issue anymore. Also, we had a big problem with QB Advanced. They claim that with Advanced you can make a copy of your company. We were relying on this when we sold our business so that we could both have a copy of the records. The copying process was a nightmare. And in the end all we got was a mediocre copy, and an acknowledgment that the copy company feature rarely works. This was a big frustration and I spent countless hours on the phone with Quickbooks trying to make it work.
