We use RLM now for many years and it is a very effective and secure way to create our node licked licenses for our desktop based software, no intention to change it.

Easy to integrate and deploy and very secure way to license our software.

A bit time consuming to learn all features and possible combinations, and how to implement it, but after this is done everything goes easily and fast.

We have been using RLM for approximately 10 years. There were a couple of alternative products at that time, but RLM appeared to have all the features that we desired and was more reasonably priced. We have never looked for an alternative since and are very happy with the software, customer service, and support - although support has rarely been needed. Our customers rarely complain about running RLM as a service - when they do it is usually related to IT firewall restrictions rather than the software itself.

RLM is easy to get started with and provides all the licensing requirements that we need at a reasonable price.

I cannot think of any cons that would require me to fill up 50 characters worth of space in this box.

Customers from us up to now are happy that rlm is easy to use, and the license managmant aspect is easy.
RLM helps us safely distribute our software and the support and contact persons are great.

- Activation Pro and RLM Cloud miss our customers need, who don't want to open their servers to an external source, problems is that it seems to us that most of the development is on these aspects
- timeouts for licenses are only limited to 3600 seconds, and for a few customers they don't work

Reprise is a full featured, flexible license manager. Most companies already have Reprise in house so there is acceptance of my software when using Reprise. Reprise is well liked and respected by my customers.

Reprise uses easy to create text based license files with encryption keys. New product features are easily added. Generating license keys takes seconds.

I develop in Python and had to write my own C++ DLLs to import using Python ctypes. This works great, but it would have been better to have out of the box Python exposure.

I would recommend this product for cross-platform C/C++ projects.

Stable API: no breaking change over the last 8 years as far as I am aware.

Customizable: you can define ISV specific host IDs and integrate third party licensing libraries. This allows you to mitigate the trauma of switching from another licensing solution to this one, especially if you have dongles in the wild.

Supports a wide variety of licensing schemes (node-locked, token based server, roaming, ...). Your customers do not need to be permanently connected to the internet to use your software.

The technical support is usually very responsive. I rarely had to wait more than 24h for a first answer on business days.

It can be difficult to diagnose the origin of some licensing errors due to the fact that you can have multiple instances of a license key visible for the licensing system and that it can only return a single error code for each checkout request.

You can mitigate this with experience, by disabling all the features you do not use and by enabling logging functionalities built in the library. That being said, if your customers do not know how to set an environment variable, you may want to automatize this process for them based on the licensing scheme you choose to apply.

Extremely good experience all round for isv's and clients.

The platforms that the ISV buys into dictates what platforms the client can use for their server.

We have a niche geoscience software product used mainly in the oil and gas industry. We've been a client for over nine years. Recommended.

The flexibility and scope of coverage - we can licence severs, dongles, linux, OS/X, PCs. Technical support is very good, you quickly get through to expert help in resolving issues. We were able tin integrate our legacy dongles into the product, ensuring a smooth transition.

Nothing really. Licensing is quite complex, so you have to think through your strategy clearly. The only issue has been that a couple of corporate clients have trouble understanding that there's more than one server licensing product, and they have to install the admin components.

We are a small company and at some point needed to have a solution for creating and managing licenses for our products. Since we deploy always the full set of tools we had to find a way to open/close some of the features, based on clients agreements and contracts. We selected RLM as our provider and integrated it into our product. This framework really works! We encountered some tries to manipulate the license details and these were successfully rejected. You should have a look, it may fit also your needs!

Overall we've been very happy with RLM. A small time investment to get working combined with almost no investment to keep running makes it a great technology.

1. It was very easy to get up & running (though we went a step or two further and built a nice C++ wrapper on it -- you certainly don't need to do that if you don't want to).
2. Whenever we need support, Reprise is quick & prompt with the help (usually situations involving odd customer networking setups when they're trying to use a floating license server).
3. Perhaps most important, we've found RLM to be of the category of 'fire and forget'. We implemented it in our software, verified it, and have had to do almost nothing since to keep it up & running. Every so often we'll upgrade to a newer version, which means compiling some binaries and putting them in the proper place so our in-house licensing system (which sits on top of RLM) can do its thing, but that's basically a couple of hours of work We upgrade to the latest version every couple of years, so this is pretty minimal.

RLM is a great licensing solution for large and small projects. It saves us a lot of development time that we can spend on the primary functionality of our products.

No significant problems found so far. Minor issues were resolved with assistance of RLM technical support.

We were FLEXlm customers for 15 years, but after a while we felt like we weren't getting much in the way of meaningful features - and the price just kept going up and up. We discovered that RLM was developed by the same people that had originally been involved with FLEXlm and it all felt very familiar to us. Pricing seemed much more fair.

Had all of the features we expected, but was a bit more modern (web administration, etc). Administration is comfortably similar to FlexLM.

Nothing in particular. It has everything we've ever thought of needing.

Our overall impression of RLM is that it is an excellent product for both developers and license administrators.

We switched to RLM in 2007. We have had very few issues with integration of RLM into our applications. And we have had very few issues to resolve with our end-customers related to RLM. Overall, RLM just works!

Sometime their support response emails are a bit thin.

We've been using this for our C++ cross-platform (Windows and Linux) product, deployed at Fortune 500 companies.

Easy to handle, both for us and our customers. We've dealt with customer support only once in 11 years (a big plus in itself) and the reply was fast and to the point.

On first setup the documentation is distributed over a few small text files, a single, small document would be easier to grasp.

Overall my interactions with Reprise have been pleasant and the RLM software is secure and easy to use, both for us and our customers. We've been using it for a long while with very few complaints.

Initial compilation of the RLM library is a bit of a hassle, but not terribly so

RLM has proved a wise choice for us, we never looked back.

RLM is a robust and mature license management solution. It has all the features we might ever need. Support is quick to respond and a minor issue was resolved in no time.

Documentation could be better, sometimes it's hard to find what you're looking for. The requirement that no firewall exists between primary and backup is a bit restrictive for some of our customers.

We've been using Reprise Licensing for our product for more than 8 years now, had no problems at all.

We have used the Reprise License Manager to license thermal analysis software for the past ten years. We are very happy with the cost, performance and service of RLM in supporting all of our customers' usage scenarios.

Affordable, easy-to-use licensing product with great support for small software vendors.
Product is well-maintained, with lots of new innovations based on customer feedback.

The only issue we ever had with our customers was that initially, many license administrators thought that there was only one license manager product available for engineering software, and they couldn't understand that we were using a new product that worked just as well.

We've been using this product for over ten years and we continue to be very happy with it.

The basic API does not support access to the license server's internal database, which would be very useful when writing scheduling software.

We needed a robust solution that includes several activation keys (one for each product feature tied to a nodelock key). and using RLM we were able to design a multi-key architecture that works great. Our client's servers only contact the RLM activation server during product installs and updates, and the licenses are managed on the server offline after that.

The provided API documentation could be better, especially when implementing a strategy that uses AlternateServer/Nodelock keys associated with a rehostable nodelock key.

We've been very pleased with Reprise it replaced a much more expensive licensing system and does even more.

Breadth of platform coverage. Extensive licensing capabilities. Cost effective.

Took some work to get integrated, but well worth it.
