What is SOLIDWORKS?

SOLIDWORKS, a flagship solution by Dassault Systèmes, is the definitive 3D CAD and product development platform that has powered innovation for over 30 years. It equips engineers, manufacturers, and designers with an end-to-end suite for modeling, simulation, product lifecycle management, and digital manufacturing. With SOLIDWORKS 2026, the platform evolves even further through cutting-edge AI-driven features like selective model loading, fastener recognition, and the AURA AI design assistant, helping users work smarter and faster. Integrated natively with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, SOLIDWORKS enables seamless collaboration between teams, secure cloud data access, and real-time project synchronization. Engineers can now automate repetitive workflows, improve design accuracy, and simulate complex assemblies directly in one environment. Its expanded capabilities in 3D rendering, documentation, and additive manufacturing bridge the gap between design intent and production execution. A robust ecosystem of partners, extensions, and training resources supports users across industries—from aerospace and automotive to consumer goods and energy. SOLIDWORKS also offers tailored programs for students, startups, and makers, ensuring accessible innovation at every level. With millions of active users and a thriving global community, it remains the go-to platform for turning concepts into real-world solutions. SOLIDWORKS 2026 reaffirms its commitment to design excellence—combining intelligence, precision, and collaboration for the next generation of product innovation.

    SOLIDWORKS 2025 downgrade sucks

    Date: Sep 05 2025
    Summary

I think if the company wants to maintain their customers they need to return the features that's made them a costumers is the first place.

    Positive

Intel now I've seen some more options and additional setups
And i love that the program introduced visualise to more users
The ability to save to an older version is a good step but i think they know that they are playing with fire so they added it

    Negative

When I'm editing and rendering it's important for me to have a tool to render in the application itself
It's unacceptable to send every simple design to visualise to do the rendering
And even visualise become worse things are missing like (fast rendering, materials, material control setups, Environments ...... Etc)
and when saving, every image save in a separate folder.

    Horrible service system never worked

    Date: Aug 02 2023
    Summary

Horrible they do not support the system at all and are just there to suck your money. They will keep charging you even after you cancel.

    Positive

None there is no pros to this system as it never worked. To download on your computer is a super complex process that there is no support for. Customer service is the worst and won’t help you. As soon as they get your money they will take it and stop helping you.

    Negative

System never worked. When I tried to get a refund they did not want to give one and kept giving me the runaround after I canceled they kept charging me.

    SOLIDWORKS NEEDS a revamp

    Date: Oct 02 2023
    Summary

SOLIDWORKS is a bloated, frustrating program that has gotten too big for the box it was originally made in. DDS needs to go back to the drawing board and fortify the most basic of features so that they reliability and speed of the program can return to an acceptable level instead of focussing on adding nifty but unnecessary features like pull form shaping or CAM or even Photoview 360. GET THE DAMN BASICS RIGHT FIRST.

    Positive

After using SOLIDWORKS for 11 years now, I can safely say it only gets the job done. It is the best of the available options at the moment for a mid-size company.

    Negative

Where do I start? Maybe that it is incredibly overpriced for the service it provides. Besides that, SOLIDWORKS has well intentioned and ever growing feature sets that lay the ground work for a potentially amazing design program and yet, every time I use it I get heartburn.... every single time. If the part or assembly starts to grow to any measurable sort of complexity the holes in the program became very apparent. It seems to me that instead of fortifying the basics, DDS just continues to add features resulting in a bloated program and basic features (like save or rename of all things) becoming unreliable or unpredictable and making for an incredibly frustrating experience.

    Terribile customer service, terrible software

    Date: Dec 20 2022
    Summary

Terrible system that never worked and horribly slow and inefficient customer service. A complete waste of time.

    Positive

None, the system never worked and the customer service is terrible. A complete waste of time, if you need a software, you will better look somewhere else.

    Negative

I paid for the subscription, they sent me the access link but it never worked. When I asked for help, the customer service responded after a week.
I asked for a cancellation of the subscription and a refund, they replied (after another week) that the cancellation will require two weeks and it will take additional ten days to process the refund.
I had to report the transaction to Visa and have them block any further transaction from this company.
    Scammers.

    SolidWorks Review

    Date: May 13 2022
    Summary

Industrial standard for CAD software. Must have program for creating customer presentations for proposals.

    Positive

SolidWorks is the industrial standard for computer aided design. It is a go to program to create designs for customer presentations and show floor drawings.

    Negative

More training materials would be useful for the casual user.
