What is ShelfCount?

ShelfCount offers an all-encompassing inventory and COGS management solution tailored for independent restaurants at an affordable monthly fee of $50, a stark contrast to the usual cost of $250 or higher. The platform leverages the smartphones your employees already have, simplifying the inventory counting process to merely clicking a link, counting shelf items, and finalizing the count—eliminating the need for app downloads or separate logins. By simply taking a photo of an invoice, ShelfCount swiftly extracts relevant data, enabling restaurant owners to approve any pricing adjustments before they impact financial results. Additionally, the system automatically recalibrates recipe and prep recipe costs in response to fluctuations in ingredient prices, while par levels can effortlessly generate a purchase order for vendors with just a single click after a count is completed. With seamless integration with Square and Clover (and Toast soon to be certified), sales data is synchronized effectively, allowing you to monitor potential margin losses by comparing projected and actual COGS. Created by a restaurant owner, ShelfCount features a singular plan that supports unlimited team members and locations, operates on a flexible month-to-month basis, and offers a 14-day free trial without requiring credit card information. This forward-thinking solution empowers restaurant owners to easily take charge of their inventory oversight and financial management, fostering greater operational efficiency and clarity. As a result, they can focus more on enhancing their dining experience rather than getting bogged down by tedious administrative tasks.

    Excellent for small cafe

    Date: Aug 25 2026
    Summary

Overall, super happy with ShelfCount as our new inventory management software. It shows us everything "the big guys" do like counts, theoretical usage vs actual usage, waste management, purchase orders and even a free scheduling tool for staff they just added. Happily recommend!

    Positive

We've been using ShelfCount for about 1-2 months now and it's absolutely awesome. We switched from Marketman (at 250 bucks a month) and are now paying a fraction of that without the buggy app that Marketman uses.
Shelfcount essentially has the exact same functionality, but it improved on a lot of things like an auto-save for inventory counts (most of our staff have ADHD so they get easily distracted and this helps).

    Negative

Currently no Toast integration. They support Square and Clover, but Toast is still "to be announced". Might have to switch POS systems just for that lol
