Overall, I have been very impressed by SmartVault. I was using Office 365 Business and was fed up that Sharepoint kept falling over for clients - I had set it up as groups to move documents around as I provide payroll services, but often I would get an email from the client saying not received or can't access. SmartVault integration has been very easy and clients have embraced - I think that for many it looks like IE tree set up for navigating makes it easier and that a desktop version is available for their use - a feature taken away by Microsoft - they feel they have greater control too. The current global pandemic has meant that the software has been a god send in maintaining client relations and service provision. I am pleased to have moved over and would recommend.

- Very user friendly and easy to navigate
- Easy to set up and invite clients and give the appropriate access according to their status i.e. full for the company director down to folder or file specific
- Easy to upload documents and great that it has a desktop version in addition to the online version. Clients like the Apple integration and the fact it works happily with MAC's as comfortably as non-MAC Windows PC's
- Good support, though confusing when you get an US number for someone who lives in India to assist! – I’m a UK based company
- Free set up and training assistance including full run through of the software
- Unlimited Companies
- Free access for clients
- Templates for Accounts/Payroll etc save a lot of time for setting up year on year

- Integration with Outlook - this is hit and miss if it works and mine doesn't meaning I can't link email in - have been advised it is due to not having the full office suite, though I have and it still wouldn't integrate
- A little expensive compared to other products, but it was best fit for the business

We love this product! I would recommend it to other business and I think our clients enjoy using it to send documents as well.

It is easy to use and has excellent customer service. We have had a really good experience! It far surpasses the previous software we used.

I wish i could sort and filter by client ID. It doesn't impact use though.

This has been a great program for our company. We only have about 12 employees so not being able to have 2 people open a file at the same time is not a huge deal but at a larger company I think this could be an issue.

The ease to which clients can upload documents. During COVID, this program has been a life saver to ensure we could get everything we needed to complete a return.

When searching for a client, it seems to take a long time to load. There is also an issue with the software auto-refreshing and most of the time the refresh button does not work.

Overall, I'm glad we have this product to save digital copies of completed tax returns & other financial reports. It's simple for our staff to use & our clients seem to like it as well. I expect it will be a permanent "client portal" solution for our firm.

SmartVault allows us to print digital copies of tax returns (both firm & client copies) to our "client portal". The returns are viewable by our firm & also my our clients. The desktop app is easy to use & customer service is top notch!

The website app is not as user-friendly as the desktop app, in my opinion.

A nice product for remote teams. It gives me access to all documents and allows me to share updated documents as needed. A great product

This system has worked very well for our team. We can share documents, ensure we are working with the most recent, and get our work done efficiently - all without using up our own storage.

I have challenges with the set up as a Z drive vs. logging into the cloud. I've never been able to figure it out.

Overall great product- especially once forced to remote work, clients could no longer mail and drop off documents to our firm, so we really relied on the portal to keep our business moving and running efficiently.

We love the ability to store, send and receive secure documents while putting clients at ease that their documents are protected. It's user friendly and so easy to manage.

It would be 5 stars if it were easier to control client portal functions and folder allowances.

Product is good and not too complicated. Some of the portal systems that are part of tax prep software are way too costly to justify slightly better integration.

Overall, I like SmartVault. I just REALLY wish that there was that email notification when a client uploads a document to me.

I like it that it's easy for me to share docs with my clients and that there is a DocuSign feature included when I need it. I also think that having SmartVault on my website helps in obtaining new clients.

I wish there was a better way for me to be notified (perhaps via email) when a client uploads a document. Otherwise, I just have to check every once in a while and with me being very busy, having to stop working to check is cumbersome.

I am very happy for SmartVault because of its security, ease of use for myself and my clients and price.

SmartVault has many features that most businesses can use totally free! SmartVault was instrumental in helping me provide the infrastructure to get my business up and running by giving my clients peace of mind that their files would be safely stored with me. SmartVault has given my clients and I a secure way to share information which is easy to use.

I wish there were more integrations. I often have to download a file onto my computer and then upload it to SmartVault to share it with my clients. I wish I could capture the document straight into SmartVault.

Both myself and the clients are pleased with the performance of SmartVault and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Easy to share all vault information with the client SAFELY. Way better than trying to encrypt emails with client PII. Clients also seem to be able to navigate the vault easily and upload documents without hassle. During these COVID times, SmartVault makes document sharing safe, fast and easy, which I really appreciate. Also allows our whole team to access the same documents and be able to work more efficiently. The document storage is excellent and we are using this service to help transition to a paperless office.

Not user friendly when it comes to sending an invitation to a client to access SmartVault. Too many steps necessary when it could just be a one click and done. Also wish you could add a client to SmartVault via the desktop application instead of just the online version.

With SmartVault I never have to worry about where my documents are for all of my clients. I know they are secure and accessible at all times no matter what computer I have access to.

I love SmartVault for the unlimited storage capacity and ease of use. I am easily able to collaborate and share files and sensitive documents with colleagues and clients alike with different permissions. I love being able to access my documents from any computer, anywhere, anytime. I feel like care about me as a consumer and try and be as helpful as possible.

Learning SmartVault was a bit difficult in the beginning but the company provides plenty of training and hundreds of videos.

I think SmartVault is easy to use and navigate. I especially allow the desktop syncing so that you an access both from the cloud and thru the Connected Desktop.

I like that this has allowed me to implement paperless process and meets IRS data security guidelines.

I don't think engagements roll forward easy from year-to-year and across multiple clients.

Overall we are happy with SmartVault and we continue to use the product daily. We would happily recommend this software.

Great user interface. Easy to use. Allows us to move, edit and store documents as and when required. The folder layouts are also very helpful.

We are awaiting an integration with our accounting software.

Very happy with the switch. Getting more used to the software every day. SmartVault University is a great tool for first time users and as a reference tool.

Ability to share files with clients. This saves so many steps, i.e. the typical drop off of a hard copy or QB file.

Archiving ex clients, a drag and drop feature would be helpful and quicker.

Customer service team takes a minute to respond. But most everything is located on FAQ's.

We needed a central place to securely store documents that our clients could also access (in a permissioned fashion) and SmartVault was that solution. It's elegant, simple, reliable, and it gets the job done!

The functionality is great, the workflows save time, the clients love it, and the DocuSign integration is perfect.

The web UI does take some time to get used too. But most of the time we use the desktop UI.
